To celebrate 8 Years Of T.H.E, Todd Helder shares 8 songs that greatly inspire him.

Featuring artists such as Marshmello, Porter Robinson and more, we are sure you could relate to some of the songs on this list.

1. Marshmello x Ookay – Chasing Colors feat. Noah Cyrus

Chasing Colors by Marshmello and Ookay inspired me to make my first singles which got released on STMPD RCRDS. What stood out to me where the basses and the catchy melody in the drop as well as the piano in the break.

2. Nero – The Thrill (Porter Robinson Remix)

I am a huge Porter fan and my music is heavily inspired by him, I’ve been listening to his music over the past 5 years and he changed the way how I looked at EDM. I can remember listening on Soundcloud to his remix for The Thrill and it felt like I was going on an adventure, which is what I’m trying to do as well but with a todd twist.

3. AREA21 – Spaceships

Spaceships by AREA21 is a song which made me feel in love with EDM again, rather than a club ready banger this song is different and unique. This catchy song made me realise you can contribute much more to the EDM community/world than if you make a club ready banger.

4. San Holo – Hold Fast

I can remember watching the music video on youtube and having like 10 seizures ahah. Hold Fast is definitely his most underrated song, the drop is very unique and even though this song is 4 years old I still listen to ‘Hold Fast’ or his album when my Inspiration doesn’t hit.

5. Daft Punk – One More Time

I love every Daft song pretty much, and One More Time is no different. The song puts me in such a good mood, and the video is just so iconic to me! The way they make music has definitely inspired me a lot!

6. Flume – Enough

Probably one of the sickest flume songs i’ve ever heard. Rushing Back is probably a close second but this is insane…Flume continues to stay ahead of the game with his unique sound design and the vocals by Pusha T are crazy.

7. G Jones – In Your Head (RL Grime Edit)

This is definitely my favorite tune of RL, big ups to RL Grime for giving such a crazy release to such a simple edit. Great way to showcase that changing small details of a track can give the track a whole new kind of energy

8. Marshmello – Alone

This track is the definition of ‘minimalistic’, Not every song needs to be complex in production for it to be sick. This song has some great vibes and is super easy to listen to! Marshmello is a big influence of mine as well :)
