Pursuing a unique style within the realms of Futurepop, Christian Ariza, professionally known as “rad cat” is a First Generation Mexican American DJ/Producer, who hails from San Diego, California.

To celebrate 8 Years Of T.H.E, Rad Cat puts together 8 songs/albums that have heavily inspired him.

Featuring artists such as Porter Robinson, Madeon and San Holo, we are sure you would be able to relate to this list, A LOT!

1. gin$eng – she

I listen to gin$eng a lot, and this is one song that I always come back to. I love the way he distorts/programs his drums. I also take inspiration from the distorted subs and pads that he uses.

2. P-Lo – Type Beat

I listen to a lot of west coast hip hop, and p-lo is one of my favorite artists of the genre. My music definitely takes a lot of inspiration from the bounce of west coast hip hop percussions.

3. SG Lewis – Blue

sg lewis has been one of my favorite artists for a while. Slow 4/4 drums paired with pretty chord progressions/sounds is something that has always inspired me. This song is a perfect example of that.

4. San Holo – Lift Me From The Ground

One of the first future bass artists I ever listened to was san holo. Ever since listening to him, I fell in love with the genre. This song is beautiful and it inspires me to continue making beautiful songs within the Future Bass genre.

5. Porter Robinson – Sad Machine

porter robinson… sad machine… Do I really need to explain why this song inspires me?

6. Madeon – All My Friends

I’ve been listening to madeon since 2013. The progression in his music is amazing and all my friends is one of my favorite songs from him. It’s a very funky and upbeat song, something that inspires my own music.

7. Blink-182 – Enema Of The State

Blink-182 is my favorite band of all time. I listened to their music a lot growing up. I think they are the ones that inspired me to get into music. They are the reason I picked up a guitar and started learning how to play it.

8. Neon Indian – Polish Girl

I listen to this song a LOT. Synthpop/Chillwave is one of my favorite genres of music to listen to. The sound design in this song inspires me, and I also just love the synth solo towards the end.
