Lex Luca has always thought big.

A fan of Jamie Jones, Luciano and Cinthie alike, his love of music and the material he plays is always a blend of house and techno.

To celebrate 8 Years Of T.H.E, Lex Luca shares 8 things he likes about electronic music. From being able to dance the entire night away, to having no borders, if you are a fan of electronic music, we are sure you will be able to relate to at least one of them.

1. Electronic music has no borders

Electronic music has no borders. I’ve DJ’ed around the world, from London Ibiza & Berlin, from Costa Rica, Mexico & Colombia to Australia, Malawi, Iceland and beyond… Electronic music transcends borders. It doesn’t matter where you come from, what you look like, what language you speak. Quality music shines through and speaks to all human beings.

2. Dance the night away

I can lose myself in Electronic music. Dancing the night away to an extended set from Carl Cox is heaven. Getting lost on the dance floor at DC10 is like a therapy. I can easily lose track of time going through my promo inbox, often getting myself in trouble!

3. Has the potential to lift me up

Electronic music lifts me up, gives me energy, gives me life. Ever since I discovered electronic music in my teenage years, I was hooked. I loved the scene, the unity, the sense of community. I’ve been very lucky to explore music throughout my career, locking on to that constant energy and aligning it with my goals.

4. Constant evolution

Electronic music is constantly evolving so there’s always something new. There’s always someone taking a fresh approach and moving things forward. I find that so exciting, it’s why experienced artists are such an inspiration to me as they move with the times, consistently delivering top quality music and filling the world’s best dance floors.

5. Constant advancements in electronic music equipment

Advances in technology always inspire me. I always look at these advances as a positive, and it’s pushed me to explore and move forward. The opposite would be dull. There’s so much available to everyone right now. I have my own studio, which I fill with the latest tech. Getting to spend my time messing around with all the different equipment, combining the classic sounds that defined electronic music whilst experimenting with the new technology.

6. Opportunity to meet new people

Electronic Music provides a great opportunity to meet new people, and connect with them in a unique way. Meeting the Luciff guys, forging a friendship based on a mutual passion for music, and now getting to release them on my label was an incredible journey resulting in some great tracks. I once went to Costa Rica for a holiday, and as I met people and started DJ’ing I ended up staying for a year as it opened countless doors to experience new cultures, meet new people and have fun, all with the motive of electronic music.

7. Makes people dance

Electronic Music makes people dance, it puts a smile on peoples faces! Whether it’s Chemical Brothers at Glastonbury 2001, or Daft Punk’s Alive homecoming gig in Paris In 2007, or a sweaty after party with 10 of your mates, the best electronic music gets me up and dancing and for that I love it!

8. Never a dull moment

Never a dull moment! Making electronic music is part of my self-expression. As long as I have my computer (or phone) I’m never bored as I can always sketch out an idea!
