What do you do when you’re playing at one of the biggest festivals on the planet, Tomorrowland?
Well, if you’re Steve Aoki you re-enact a scene from Titanic, if you’re David Guetta you play your cover of a well-known nursery rhyme, and if you’re James Marvel and D&B Award nominee for Best MC, MC Mota you debut your brand new single live on stage. One of the D&B scenes most respected record labels and a firm Zane Lowe favourite, AudioPorn, snapped up James Marvel in 2013, thanks to his fresh take on the genre.
Having remixed both Dub FX and Xilent to huge effect recently, causing riots on 170+ bpm dancefloors across the globe, now it’s James Marvel’s opportunity to destroy dancefloors with his own original music. And so the story of two artists going to war with emotionally bland music begins. Way Of The Warrior is not only D&B at its finest and most energetic, it’s also drum & bass at its most experimental. Completing the single is Outlife, a distinctly different cut that showcases a mellower, softer side to James Marvel’s production. Undoubtedly, James Marvel is not a name to watch; with music this good he’s a name to listen to.
