It’s that time of the year again! ADE just completed it’s 24th successful edition with over 400,000 attendees swarming multiple venues across the party capital.

The event saw attendees from 146 countries, coming to network, socialise, carry out business and attend the vast number of showcases hosted during this week-long jamboree.

While most of us headed for meetings, mixers, drinks and bites and a lot more, it also gave us the opportunity to catch up with old friends, fellow party-goers and also meet new ones as the gigs around. And with a festival program that had almost every artist in the Electronic Music space playing at the event, we knew for sure there were a few showcases that we had to catch, even if it meant us braving the rains, or downing countless RedBulls post the event to keep us up and running through the meetings. Here is our list of what we enjoyed the most this year!

16th October

Colorize, Silk Music & Zerothree pres. “United In Prog”

A label that has always been a pioneer in the progressive space, Silk music went on to host a showcase, highlighting some of their best artists on day 1. We couldn’t have found a better way to start ADE than with this wonderful one

Awakenings x Charlotte De Witte pres KNTXT

Belgian techno starlet Charlotte De Witte took over Gashouder for a power packed label showcase on day 1. The all nighter featured sets from Matrixmann, Shdw & Obscure Shape. Amotik and multiple other big wigs. Great music, massive production and a wonderful vibe to get the gears rolling for the party season this ADE.

17th October

Bordello A Parigi In-store record sessions

Ease from your hangover with some nice and chill records at Bordello A Pairigi. Artists such as Peach, David Vunk, Optimo, Rroxymore, Anthea, Oshana and multiple others made their way to this cosy record store, tucked in tiny bylane in the city, to pick and play some great records.

DGTL Pres. Ben Klock b2b Marcell Dettman

Ben Klock, Marcell Dettman, Jeff Mills, Helena Hauff, Identified Patient and so many more on one night. Pool in DGTL’s visuals and production. Need we say more? DGTL’s ADE showcases have always had a special place in our heart and this one is no different!

Reaktor pres. Dax J, SPFDJ, Hector Oaks and Stranger

4 pioneers of the industrial techno scene, on a boat carted away from the docks of Amsterdam, up for one sweaty, rugged and intense 12 hour party. Also, did we mention, there was a special b2b2b2b set from all four?

Thuishaven ADE w/ Electric Deluxe

Speedy J’s label takes over Thuishaven for one good night. With three seperate zones, the event featured artists such as Daniel Avery, Surgeon, Lucy, Konduku and multiple others

Rainbow Disco Club x Rush Hour ADE

Get a taste of Japan’s Rainbow Disco Festival with this showcase at Shelter. Celebrating it’s 10 year anniversary, RDC associated with Rush Hour for a special and intimate gig with Kikiorix, Wata Igarashi, Jayda G, Antal and many more!

18th October

Denis Sulta + Maceo Plex at the Loft

Glasgow’s disco and house connoisseur took over the Loft on the 18th for an exclusive b2b with a special guest, who turned out to be Maceo Plex. Who says you can’t have your cake and eat it too? Well, we clearly got to witness the best of both!

Verknipt Day 1

3 areas, no sound restrictions, an exclusive and unique warehouse that can be used only once a year and hell lot of ridiculously good artists all packaged into one mad night! If you are big on some slamming and dark music, this is the place to be!

Audio Obscura x Motor City Drum Ensemble at Lil’ Central

Ever wondered what partying at a train station would be like? Audio Obscura puts that thought to a test and brings you the mighty Motor City Drum Ensemble along with Young Marco and Dekmantel prodigy Masalo! It was a night of good disco for sure!

Het Weekend

De School went ahead to host a crazy weekend party spanning three days. With a very diverse lineup that covered some eclectic electronic music, this event saw some great acts take over a play some brilliant sets

19th October

Audio Obscura x Giegling at the loft

The enigmatic Berlin based label, Giegling, took over the panoramic Loft for a monumental rendezvous. With artists as Konstantin, Leafar Legov, Map.ache and multiple others dropping some brilliant sets, this made for one of the most memorable parties this season.

Freddy K pres Chain

In the current modern scene, we very rarely see artist spin vinyl or pick records very frequently. Reflecting on the impact of Vinyls and how it’s crucial to keep the chain moving, Techno legend and activist Freddy K hosted a panel. Quite insightful and needed, this one kept us gripped throughout.

Ritter Butzke x Multiversim by Comport

Berlin’s famed Ritter Butzke joined forces with Comport records for a mystical and innovative night with live music. The night saw Booka Shade perform live after a six month exile. It also had artists such as Kiasmos, Christian Loffler, Animal & Me and a lot more!

Shelter Festimi x Cooking with Palm Trax

The exquisite Palm Traxx hijacked Shelter and stirred up some great mixes at the venue for sure. Peppered with Hunee, Roi Perez, Kamma and Masalo and spicing things up with Identified Patient, we came out with our stomachs full of some deliciously good music.

20th October

Photon

Ben Klock’s legendary showcase shifted base this year. Heading out of Gashouder, they overtook De Kromhouthal for a power packed night with some heavy weight techno artists such as Fjaak, Rodhad, Blawan, Freddy K and Adiel.

Intercell x I Hate Models Invites

There couldn’t have been a better way to close than catch I Hate Model’s tastefully curated showcase. Not holding back at all, the event saw Body Sushi (Randomer & VTSS), Par Grindvik, Hector Oaks, Sunil Sharpe and KI/KI take over for a night of slaying!

Vault Sessions x ADE Closing

The three area showcase hosted by Vault was one that we will hold in our memory for a very long time. With acts such as Ancient Methods, Tommy Four Seven, Cleric, Inhalt Der Nacht, Cleric and a seperate area by Orphic, we were blown away by this one!

Amelie Lens Pres. Exhale

24 hours of hard hitting techno with some of the underground’s finest taking over for a night with no bars to hold. Spectacular doesn’t even go on to describe how brilliant this showcase was.

These were some of the showcases that managed to hold a special place in our hearts this year. ADE is a wonderful platform to not only go and witness major showcases, but also go and check out smaller, more unique and diverse music and artists as well. The beauty of the event lays in the fact that they event has a place for every artist, no matter how big or small and that makes us want to keep going back and discovering a lot more! There were some great showcases that we missed as well, hence it didn’t make it to the list. However, we can’t wait to go back next year and catch those and a lot more! You can read more about ADE 2020, here.

Which ones made it to your list this year? Let us know!
