Simon Green, better known as Bonobo is an evident example of mammoth talent, immense creativity and emotive productions. There are very few artists who fit the bill but Bonobo has blossomed in every possible medium.
Bonobo is one of the finest artists to come out of Britain considering the enormous list of legendary acts the country holds. The timeless touch to his production has been the reason behind the love he has received from fans across the world.
Bonobo’s attention to detail, deep rooted love of sound and atmosphere in his hip-hop and jazz influenced electronica has made him the genre-shunning producer he is.
Bonobo generally tours as a DJ but he also has live ensemble, who orchestrate live versions of studio material, with a singer, keyboardist, guitarist, saxophonist, string section, electronics, and drummer.
Bonobo released his first studio album Animal Magic on Brighton based electronica label “Tru Thoughts”. The super-relaxed and self-instrumented feel to his debut album was the reason behind the evolution of “Downtempo”. Bonobo then signed to “Ninja Tune” and went on to rack up five studio albums after on the same label.
The North Borders, Bonobo’s fifth studio album was the best reflection of the musician he is, transforming his strong influences and thoughts into rich and enlightened productions. The Album also saw Bonobo announce the ‘The North Borders Tour – Live’. The tour turned out to be a career defining tour for Bonobo. The band travelled 180,000 miles, doing 175 shows in 30 countries across 3 continents over 18 months in front of 2 million people including the legendary performance at London’s legendary Alexandra Palace.
Bonobo is all set to release his sixth studio album Migration (out January 13th via. Ninja Tune). Speaking about the album, Simon says “It’s interesting how one person will take an influence from one part of the world and move with that influence and effect another part of the world. Over time, the identities of places evolve.”
The album, familiar to his productions provides a very atmospheric and euphoric feeling and we can’t wait to get our hands on it.
The lead single “Kerala” — was captured during the producer’s journey throughout the United States. The intriguing video sees a woman shuffling through the streets as she tries to escape a meteor. The glitchy narrative to the video adds a diverse impact to the sound of ‘Kerala’
