Asia’s largest festival at sea, It’s The Ship will be taking to the open waters of Singapore this year, for its 6th edition from November 13-15.
Having just unleashed an impressive lineup of artists headlined by the likes of NERVO, Dannic and a lot more, this year’s voyage promises to be a special one.
This will be the first time that Dannic will be playing at It’s The Ship, and we spoke to him about what he’s expecting from it, and what fans can expect from his set.
T.H.E – Hey Daan! Welcome to T.H.E – Music Essentials. Good to chat with you again, what have you been up to?
Dannic – Thanks for having me guys! I’ve been working super hard in the studio recently so lots of exciting things in the pipeline! I was really honoured by the reaction and support on my latest track ‘Tell Me (If You Really Love Me)’ and Zonderling just released an edit of mine and Promise Land’s ‘Over’ on Heldeep – loving all the videos of the fans dancing along!
T.H.E – This is going to be your debut performance, at It’s The Ship Singapore. What are you looking forward to the most?
Dannic – It is! I’m excited to see what the festival is all about! Fans over in Singapore are always crazy and so receptive to my sets so I can’t wait to bring my funk Dannic sound back over there for you guys!
T.H.E – Apart from DJing, what do you plan on doing on the cruise? Any hints as to where fans can expect to bump into you?
Dannic – I read that I could go bowling on board which sounds super fun and I want to see what other crazy activities you guys have in store for us! Apart from that, relaxing and sipping on a cocktail – see you by the pool!
T.H.E – What can fans expect from your set – any new IDs or collaborations that we should keep an eye out for?
Dannic – With the event being in November, I can imagine I’d have a lot of fresh new IDs after the Summer and for my upcoming releases, you can follow me on social media to stay up to date.
T.H.E – Mash-ups are a big part of your sets. How do you go about identifying the songs that need mashing-up?
Dannic – I don’t think it’s me “identifying” songs that need that treatment, it’s usually two tracks that I love that I’ll work on to bring something really unique to the table – sometimes it will start with a melody, other times a vocal.
T.H.E – How has 2019 been for you on the production front? How pleased are you with the releases, the way fans have responded to them, and the tours that you have undertaken?
Dannic – I’ve had a really brilliant year already, lots of work in the studio like I said and I’ve been touring the US, Asia, Europe, everywhere! But now the festival season is about to kick-off it’s going to be pretty hectic but always fun! I’m super excited to see my fans all over the world!
T.H.E – Lastly, which artists have caught your eye in 2019?
Dannic – FLEXX & VÄHN who have just released ‘Trompeta’ on my label Fonk Recordings are really making waves, their tunes are so good! Rob & Jack from Stockholm are also great, check them out!
