GRAMMY®-nominated, chart-topping house artist Chris Lake collaborates with NPC on the ambitious single “A Drug From God.”

Lake creates an ominous, futuristic soundscape that escalates to spine-tingling heights as the distinctive vocals of NPC extend a thought-provoking invitation:

Money, Power, Beauty, Fame
Choose your weapon to beat the game
Money is power and art is fraud
And love is just a drug from God

NPC is a new AI girl group from Grimes, who continues to hone the concepts of her recent albums, Art Angels, which charted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Alternative Albums tally, and Miss Anthropocene, which Rolling Stone hailed as “a work of ambition.” Her 2012 album, Visions, was named as one of “The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time” by NME and won the Electronic Album of the Year Award at the Junos in her native Canada.

Fans have been clamoring for the release “A Drug From God” ever since this live performance snippet from Lake’s summer tour was posted. “This new ID…has everybody talking,” said YourEDM.

Dancing Astronaut hailed it as “fire.” Stereogum, NME, The Line of Best Fit, UPROXX and numerous other publications also took note. Released today by Black Book Records and Astralwerks, the track was produced by Lake and NPC in Los Angeles.

Tickets are on sale HERE for Lake’s “A Drug From God” release party show, which will take place tomorrow, November 13, at The Midway in San Francisco.

Lake’s hits include such songs as “Turn Off the Light,” “Operator (Ring Ring),” “I Want You” and “Deceiver.” In a feature announcing his signing to Astralwerks, Billboard Dance noted that his catalog “neatly embodies the tech-house-oriented…sound that… is the genre of choice among Stateside dance fans.”

The British-born, L.A. based producer/DJ recently collaborated with Fritz Carlton on a remix of Joseph Ray and Lakou Mizik’s “Bade Zile,” which is the lead-off track from Black Book ID’s: Chapter 2.

The mixtape, which was released last month, also includes contributions from DEL-30, Alex Kennon, Dubesque and CZR & Gettoblaster. With the Black Book ID’s series, Lake’s objective is to instill a sense of discovery in fans, with exclusive, previously unreleased recordings from both established and new artists.

Black Book, which Lake founded in 2016, routinely tops the Beatport chart – with Chris Lorenzo’s “California Dreamin’” Ft. High Jinx, a reimagining of The Mamas and The Papas’ classic hit, being the latest to claim the Number 1 spot.

The label teamed up with Astralwerks in late 2020 to release The Answer, Lake’s epic collaboration with legendary producer Armand Van Helden. In addition to his originals, Lake has a string of acclaimed remixes to his credit, including Calvin Harris & Disciple’s “How Deep is Your Love,” Missy Elliot’s “WTF (Where They From)” and MK’s “Body 2 Body.” He also collaborated on Deadmau5’s 4×4=12, which received a GRAMMY nomination for Best Dance/Electronic Album.
