Changing Faces

There can’t be many people in the drum and bass fraternity who don’t know about Soulvent Records. The East London based label has witnessed a meteoric rise over the last couple of years.

Owned by one the most exciting acts in drum & bass, Pola & Bryson, the label has been delivering some of the freshest music since its inception in 2013.

Sticking with their ethos of making ‘Soul’ drum & bass (excuse the pun), the label has notched up releases from quality producers like GLXY, Arch Origin and Data 3, with the biggest release being Pola & Bryson’s ground breaking debut album ‘This Time Last Year’.

The label has now hit its 30th release and what better way to celebrate than bringing some fresh music from a brand new producer on the roster. Ema Vaskova better known as Changing Faces has experienced a relentless rise in 2016. Hailing from Slovakia, she has delivered some soul soothing numbers and has already caught the attention of some of the biggest labels like RAM Records, Pilot and Fokuz Recordings.

Hitting Soulvent’s 30th release, the Slovakian prodigy has delivered a sublime 2 track EP. ‘Talk To You’ is out on Soulvent Records and my word, it is an absolute beauty.

The title track ‘Talk To You’ begins with a lovely textured synth and then eases into a classic old school vibe. The Guitar effortlessly flows into a super-catchy summer drum and bass roller.

Sticking with the old school vibe, ‘Nothing At All’ begins with a head-bopping halftime hip hop break. Hitting hard with some warm sub runs, the drums break out into that of a classic liquid roller. Half way through the drop, a more distorted bass-line provides the meat the track’s begging for. Absolute Beauty!
