FrostTop’s highly-anticipated debut EP ‘REFORM’ has finally arrived on NGHTMRE and SLANDER’s Gud Vibrations imprint.

The six-track effort sees the California favorite reaching new heights while exploring a myriad of sounds and styles. From his signature hard-hitting trap style to emotionally gripping bops, and everything in between, the project serves as the perfect showcase of the rising star’s ever-expanding talents.

The EP opens with the cinematic edge of the title track. “Reform” pulls in listeners from the opening notes, creating a cold and mysterious soundscape that commands you to continue to explore the sonic landscape deeper. The brief silence proceeding the drops simulates the feeling of that final deep breath before plunging into the unknown. Club-friendly percussion meets triumphant leads and sci-fi synths. The layers create a feeling of transcendence, and it’s only the beginning.

The project’s previously released single “Echo” builds on the themes of the opener while adding even more intensity. Mesmerizing melodies and deep respirations intertwine for an introduction that’s captivating and pulse-raising. The undercurrent of uncertainty evolves into anticipation as the percussion drives into a warning siren. Militant snares, metallic synth stabs, and immersive bass collide for drops with enough force to knock listeners over. The track captures the intensity and devastation of a dystopian warzone, while adding a poignant pull when the ferocity subsides.

“Gemini” sees FrostTop leveraging contrasting energies to amplify impact. Pain-stricken vocals and solemn piano keys create a sense of sadness and longing, while the drops see that emotion swelling into unbridled anger. The menacing brass, brutish bass, and breathtaking vocal bends move the track from emotive to murderous with impressive finesse.

Kicking off the latter half is “Higher (Take Me),” the project’s most emotional offering. The lofty vocal gives the song its namesake while providing listeners with a feeling of floating amongst the clouds. Frenetic drum arrangements, radiant melodic warbles, and an epic synth progression elevate the song to further heights. Blurring the lines between hardwave and future bass, “Higher (Take Me)” is a radiant pillar of light that will melt away your worries.

“‘Higher’ has become one of my favorite records I’ve ever written,” explains FrostTop. “It encapsulated the exact world that my music lives in. I wanted it to feel nostalgic, as well as fresh and new. I want the song to feel like you’re looking into the future while reminiscing on the past. It was one of the smoothest songwriting and producing processes I’ve ever had, and just felt like one of those moments that came together perfectly and was meant to be.”

Resetting the tone, “Headrush” serves as the most aggressive among the pack. Fusing trap with dubstep, the laser beam-laden weapon is charged up for destruction. Gritty low-end, spine-chilling synths, and a brutal off-kilter bounce come together for a merciless festival destroyer.

Acting as the perfect finale, “Faint” embodies everything that makes FrostTop and ‘REFORM’ so special. The haunting vocal bends and hypnotic synths combine for an exceptionally immersive introduction. Militant percussion accelerates forward while the drops explode into the futuristic trap sound the artist has built his fan base around. Glitchy, steely, and exploding with energy,
“Faint” offers the perfect climax before sending listeners to drift off into the expanse one last time.

Reflecting on how his debut EP came together, FrostTop shares: “This project started over two years ago. I came to a point in my young career where I didn’t feel like the music I was making truly represented my feelings and who I was. I took nearly a year off releasing music and playing shows, and took the time to develop a sound that was truly expressive and something people can identify with and latch onto. After so much time and development of this EP, it has finally become what I have always wanted, and it is the perfect time to release it.”

Long Beach native FrostTop has become a favorite among fans and industry heavyweights alike. His music has been supported by top-tier talents, including Skrillex, RL Grime, The Chainsmokers, Flosstradamus, Excision, Boombox Cartel, and Illenium. FrostTop is gearing up for his upcoming performance at HARD Summer Music Festival, as well as a forthcoming headline show in Los Angeles. Adding to his impressive resume, he has graced the stages of EDC Las Vegas, HARD Summer, and Brooklyn Mirage.

Across six unique tracks, FrostTop explores a wide range of genres, emotions, and sounds while maintaining a distinct sonic palette that showcases the evolution of his signature. The ‘REFORM’ EP is a powerful statement from bass music’s latest can’t miss artist.
