Luca Lush and Oski join forces on their new collab “Gangsta,” a volatile, shapeshifting bass single slated for release on Bassrush Records.

Genres tend to feel more like an afterthought whenever Luca Lusha and Oski hit the studio—or at least that’s the general vibe one might get when they poke around their respective catalogs.

The two boundless producers have hopped all around the map musically, covering a plethora of sounds ranging from trap, dubstep, drum & bass, house, electro, techno, and beyond. On their first outing with the Bassrush Records imprint, this rebellious spirit is manifesting to the highest order possible.

“Gangsta” is all about breaking the rules, taking on various incarnations throughout its nearly four-minute run. Starting out with hyped-up vocals and a scampering melody, the frenetic track chronically morphs across various tempos without skipping a step.

Punishing laser synths and rapid-fire machine gun samples start to permutate into crunchy shades of dubstep and post-trap. During the breakdown, the main melody motif bounces back into the foreground until a muted low-end and club-style rhythm barges in before giving the floor to a warehouse outro powered by its thumping techno groove. Never knowing where the next note will land is half the fun, resulting in an explosive collaboration that scratches the brain in all the right ways.

Luca Lush shares his insight on how the collab came together: “This song came about during one of my ‘Digging for Dingers’ Twitch streams circa mid-2020. Oski popped in the chat and asked if he could send some demos through, one of which was an early version of ‘Gangsta.’ I asked if I could put my spin on it and we started working on it over a Discord screen share the following week, passing samples back and forth and adding bits and pieces until the first version was finalized. Later this year, after diving more fully into techno, I wanted to lengthen the track and add a section at the end that would more thoroughly compliment my current style of sets without taking away from the heavy halftime front-end.”

Known legally as Wolfgang Robinowitz, Luca Lush originally spawned in the picturesque islands of Micronesia with what he claims to be naturally occurring blue colored hair—with a rare and lovingly loud personality to match.

After making his way to Brooklyn and recently relocating to Los Angeles, he has found tremendous success from finessing the fringes of electronic music with a DIY attitude that screams punk rock. He’s also become a familiar face for Insomniac Music Group fans, previously touching down on NIGHTMODE with his remix of Juelz’s “Pour All Night” featuring Thelonious, and then with his “Spectral Sequence” collab in-tandem with VARI on SLANDER’s Heaven Sent imprint.

In 2019, he debuted on Bassrush by way of his mellifluous take of “Fading Out,” which was pulled from ATLiens’ massive ‘Ghost Planet (The Remixes)’ package.

Hailing from Australia, Oski has also been a tough producer to pin down. Originally catching fire in the era when blogs and SoundCloud reigned supreme, the young-blood has been validating those early cosigns from his teenage youth by dropping jaws and cracking skulls with each and every release thereafter.

Recognized for his influential fusion of hip-hop, trap, dubstep and drum & bass, the unstoppable Aussie has pumped out hard-hitting collabs alongside UZ, Tynan, Hydraulics and Leotrix, while maintaining a savage output of EPs now nearing the double digits, including his most recent four-tracker ‘Kid Colossus’ from last month.

Teaming up on their first collab together, Luca Lush and Oski are about to stack up some serious street cred with the strength of their genre-busting single “Gangsta.”
