November has seen a host of brand new music hit stores, from the tech house genre’s leading tastemaker labels and artists.
Most notably, Michael Bibi’s ‘Hanging Tree’ has stormed up the Beatport chart, with the producer and DJ proving why he was set to become a favourite in 2018 by hitting its number one spot. Including releases from Toolroom, LoveJuice, Solardo’s Sola as well as many other imprints who are helping to shape the current market, below highlights a few of the tracks which have become must-have cuts throughout November, both in UK club spaces and beyond.
1. Michael Bibi – Hanging Tree [Repopulate Mars]
Many of his club shows next year sold out in less than twenty-four hours and it’s unsurprising that this South London raised producer shot to the Beatport number one position with brand new single ‘Hanging Tree’. A certified dancefloor slayer, ‘Hanging Tree’ has already done the rounds over recent months and remains a set staple.
2. Anti Up – Hey Pablo [Up The Anti Records]
Anti Up have become somewhat of a household name, with the heavyweight pairing of Chris Lake and Chris Lorenzo providing the soundtrack for many festival-goers this summer. ‘Hey Pablo’ is another groove layered offering and the title-track of their ‘Hey Pablo’ EP released just last week.
3. Hot Since 82 – Bloodlines [Knee Deep in Sound]
Leeds based producer Hot Since 82 already has a hefty catalogue, helping him to become a widely recognizable face within dance music and a critics favourite. With sweeping percussion and an understated feel, its driving bassline gives the track its weight.
4. Wheats – Original Rebel [Toolroom]
Having already released on Toolroom, Lost, MadTech and CR2 Records at just twenty years old, Wheats is setting himself apart from many other producers of the same age bracket. ‘Original Rebel’ features the type of thumping kicks that certainly reverberate across dancefloors.
5. Ed Mason – Jerk Rice [LoveJuice]
A recent release from the label and seminal events brand LoveJuice, ‘Jerk Rice’ is another fun-tinged addition to their growing back catalogue. Snipped vocal samples and shaking percussion underpins the cut from Ed Mason; it’s an insight into the newcomer’s blossoming signature sound.
6. Wh0 – Scream [Wh0 Plays]
Wh0 takes a recognizable component and pulls it through their party-led, pumping sound. The anonymous duo has held over some of the house genre’s most notorious DJs and this can be heard through the airtime their music’s had over the past twelve months.
7. Shiba San – Crush That [SOLA]
The minimal tech vibes of Shiba San has caught the attention of many tastemakers – most notably Solardo, who’ve brought the producer into their Sola imprint for his debut release. The ‘Downtown’ EP is a smashing introduction to Shiba San and ‘Crush That’ is a testament to this.
