Uppermost has always worn his musical heritage with pride. Taking cues from the ‘French Touch’ movement, which bred the likes of Daft Punk and Justice, his productions have time and time again pushed the boundaries of what is ordinarily expected from an electronic artist. Now, with the release of ‘Impact’, the young Frenchman treats fans to another three unreleased tracks that brim with creativity and flair.

First up is the future-house jam, ‘Hold Me Up’. Featuring the luscious vocals of Vita Schmidt, complimented with smooth harmonies throughout, the record bursts with colour and texture at every turn. The track comes complete with an official video, depicting two lovers as they spend their last day together by the seaside before emotionally parting ways.

Next up is ‘Watch You Blaze’, a deep-house cut that marks a distinct shift in style from Uppermost’s previous work, whilst still maintaining the complexity of production that he has become renowned for. Following hot on its heels, comes the title track from the EP, ‘Impact’. True to its name this trap infused record hits the eardrums hard, dialling up the energy and giving a nod to the sounds of Hudson Mohawke and RL Grime. ‘Cyclic Control’ takes hold of the reins next; with fast tempo chord changes and punchy bass-line sequences, this has already become a firm favourite amongst the likes of Zeds Dead and Anna Lunoe (Radio 1).

‘Whisper’, the penultimate track on the EP and arguably the most refined, draws on the passionate vocals of Jessica Gabrielle, delicately blending synth-infused harmonies and intricate piano riffs. Rounding things off is the delectable deep-house jam, ‘Talisman’. The first cut to be released from the EP yet the last to feature, this fitting finale brings the project neatly full circle and demonstrates Uppermost’s ability to take his listeners on a captivating musical journey.
