They promised they were back ‘for life’ and then were nowhere to be heard or seen for almost 2 years, but now it looks like Swedish House Mafia is back and they’re back with a bang.
During their 30-minute mix on BBC Radio 1’s Dance Weekend celebration, the legends made sure to pack a punch with a perfect mix of the old and the new.
Starting and ending their set with the brand new “It Gets Better” and “Lifetime”, the in-between was stacked with classics like “Greyhound”, “One (Your Name)” and 4 unreleased IDs among others.
Speaking to host Pete Tong, the trio also shared how and when they knew the time was right to bring SHM back with Steve Angello saying, “Obviously we have some incredible history and we had an amazing journey, you know, building up to the end of SHM. What’s the next phase in our careers? What can we do to be excited and challenge ourselves and just to push boundaries, you know? And getting back together was the only answer.”
Sprinkling in mixes but each of their individual entities, there was also a little Daft Punk and Eric Prydz for good measure. If there was one thing this set solidified, it was that the trio isn’t here to play and have the fans pumped about their soon-to-come debut album “Paradise Again” slated for a 2021 release.
Don’t fret if you missed it or want to hear it over and over, you can listen to the set here.
