On July 9, the Balaton Sound cleanup crew found three girls unconscious on the floor. The festival organizers learned about it and reported it to the police who then went to the airport and caught up with Canadian duo, DVBBS. They did a screen check and arrested them for drug charges and were in custody overnight. However, the duo were released after being questioned.

The women that were brought backstage at the show all want to forget everything that had happened and are hurt that many people consider them promiscuous. In the first report made by Bors, two unconscious girls were found in DVBBS’ dressing room. Now Bors says that six girls total were called in. One of the two first girls invited back said they felt safe and didn’t think anything bad would happen with so many people around. They just wanted autographs, photos, and have a fun party, not some hook up. One of the girls said the musicians were nice to them- “but then we drank something and that image was shattered…”

One girl felt ashamed of herself; “They used, fooled, and ambushed us and we can not find the words to explain what happened,” she said.

Statements made from Index say that a witness saw two women come outside the dressing room swaying, looking ill. After drinking water handed to them, they felt better and left. Another girl came out and turned back to bring her friend out that was still inside, but was blocked by DVBBS’ manager. A fourth girl came out in tears, frightened, not knowing where her boyfriend was and ran to the restroom. The last girl inside was found lying on the ground.

An announcement from Balaton Sound Official’s Facebook page was made in response to their visitors:

“Dear Visitors,

As you have certainly heard of, on Saturday, July 9, at Balaton Sound, in the backstage of the venue’s main stage, a number of people invited by DVBBS became sick under undignified circumstances, which are still to be cleared. They needed medical attention and some of them were hospitalized. Our staff found them after DVBBS had left the venue. (It is important to note that the backstage is a closed area and may only be accessed by the organizers, the performers, and their guests.)

Both as organizers and human beings, we find it inacceptable that such a situation could have occurred. As a consequence, we cancelled DVBBS’s upcoming show at Sziget Festival.

The police examined the site where the events had taken place and some of the people present gave testimonies as witnesses. According to today’s police inquiry, an investigation is in progress against an unknown person for the suspicion of sexual violence.

During the last couple of days, there were a great quantity of news, opinion, and speculation in the press and social media in connection with the case, while on the other hand, the clarification of the facts is still in progress. All this confirms our belief that DVBBS’s performance at Sziget Festival in August cannot be undertaken. Needless to say, the cancellation is not to be (and cannot be) interpreted as a judgment in the question of the performers’ legal responsibility for the incident, because the legal clarification of the events exclusively belongs to the competency of the police.

With regard to the official proceedings, we shall not make further comments on the events publicly. However, we felt it was important to share the above information with you and the general public.
Our thoughts are with the girls and we wish them quick recovery!

With love, the organizers of Balaton Sound”

Hungarian police are still working on the investigation.
