This heartbreaking news came straight from the horse’s mouth, Eric Prydz himself tweeted last night that he would not be able to make it out to Miami this year.

This led to not only the cancellation of his two sets during Ultra Music Festival Miami, on March 29th and 31st, but also the much anticipated Pryda show at Wynwood Factory on March 28th.

Stating that this cancellation came due to an acute medical condition, Prydz also expressed how gutted he was, as this is one of his favorite times of the year. While Miami transforms into the dance music capital of the world in the last week of March, artists and dance music fans alike from all over the world come together to celebrate Miami Music Week.

As reported by EDMTunes, the rumors began bubbling on Tuesday that Eric Prydz was canceling shows in Miami. They then went on to grow even grimmer as his Thursday Pryda show was removed from the Wynwood Factory website. Later on Tuesday evening, Prydz eventually went on to officially announce that he was canceling his Pryda show at Wynwood Factory and his headlining Ultra sets on Friday with Adam Beyer at the RESISTANCE Island and on Sunday on the ASOT Stage.

As one of the most anticipated acts of not just MMW but also Ultra in spite of its star-studded lineup, Prydz’s absence will surely be felt. The disappointing news was however received by his fans with much compassion. Most of the replies were not only to wish him a speedy recovery and good health but also applauding him for putting his health first and of great understanding from the fans in the matter.

As reported by Miami New Times, as for ticket holders for Prydz’s show at Wynwood Factory, the event promoter, Humans Alike, announced on Facebook that they would receive a complimentary one-week pass to all Wynwood Factory’s Miami Music Week events (entry before midnight), along with a full refund.

However, it still remains to be seen who will fill in the slots instead of the Swedish legend during his two scheduled sets at Ultra. Prydz was set to perform under his moniker Cirez D alongside Adam Beyer at the Carl Cox Megastructure Friday, March 29, and on the A State of Trance stage Sunday, March 31.
