COVID-19 has been rampaging through the world on a global scale and the levels of losses are unfathomable.
The pandemic has globally left over 55,000 people dead and over a million who have tested positive.
While the music industry has been hit hard and a number of DJ’s and Producers have been directly impacted by the pandemic, a void was left by the death of a major artist manager in the industry.
Gary Salzman, Co-founder of New York-based Big Management died earlier this week due to complications from the killer coronavirus. In a statement posted to the company’s Facebook Page on Wednesday (April 1), they said,
“As we are all facing this difficult time, it is with a heavy heart and deep sadness that we send this today. Our dear friend, Gary Salzman has passed away yesterday evening due to complications battling the COVID-19.
We here at Big Management join Gary’s family, friends, and loved ones in this great loss. For those of you who knew Gary, we ask that you remember and celebrate his smile, hard work ethic, sense of humor, and big heart. We hope that in this tough time you are all able to remember Gary’s passion and love for not only the music industry but for each and every artist he’s worked with throughout his dedicated career.”
Salzman and his business partner Joe Koppie came together in 1991 to start Big Management. The company worked with some of the biggest names in dance music over time aswell such as David Guetta among others.
Many of his clients and friends paid him heartfelt tributes across social media and took a minute to urge people to stay in do our bit to help curb the virus as medical systems globally struggle to treat those impacted.
Rest in peace to my amazing, long time friend @salzman_gary #COVID19 took you from us too soon. You were a legend. Love you brotha❤🙏🏾
