There wasn’t a set of dry eyes in that sold-out arena of 58,000 plus, regardless of if we talk about the audience or the performers on stage.

On December 5, 2019, the Avicii Tribute Concert for Mental Health Awareness took place at the Friends Arena in his hometown of Stockholm. With DJ performances by his friends and collaborators David Guetta, Kygo, Nicky Romero, Laidback Luke, and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike there was a lot of unreleased music we probably might not hear again. While David Guetta dropped a track they had built on abeat which he and Avicii worked on together with Afrojack and Georgio Moroder, Kygo also dropped an unreleased collaboration which he performed with Sandro Cavazza.

Since the DJ sets from the concert were not part of the live stream, all we have to relive them are fan videos. Whether these songs will see the light of day or these were special one time performances remains to be seen. David Guetta interrupted his set before he dropped the song to say that this was a record he was playing for the very first time and it would probably also be the last time he played it.

The highlight of the night was without a doubt the celebration of Tim’s life as over 19 singers who he had collaborated with in his lifetime from Adam Lambert to Rita Ora and Aloe Blacc to Sandro Cavazza came together with a 30-piece live band to perform a lot of the tracks live for the very first time.

The man of the moment who brought it all to life, Klas Bergling, spoke to TV4 in an interview about the concert. Explaining all that it took to bring it together and the logistics behind putting on an event of this magnitude, he also went on to speak about the struggles his son faced with addiction and his route to recovery and the following relapse.

The 30-minute video with English subtitles can be watched here.
