Orca Sound Project Works On Jewellery Line Made From Recycled Plastics Found On Ibiza Beaches

UK based organization Orca Sound Project has taken on partnering with large festivals and companies to do their bit to spread awareness with regards to the global plastic waste crisis and ocean pollution.

They have partnered with the likes of Miami Music Week, Ultra Music Festiva, and Amsterdam Dance Event among others. In 2019, they partnered with Glastonbury Festival in the UK, to create a stage built entirely out of recycled ocean plastic that volunteers had collected in England.

The organization is now drawing attention towards the Dance music hub, island town of Ibiza. According to the project team, there are only five years left before the island’s landfills run out of space. They have now partnered with jewelry brand hW to create a capsule collection using materials entirely sourced from the plastics collected off Ibiza’s beaches.

Giving back to the cause, 20% of the proceeds from this line are committed towards beach cleanup activities in Ibiza to remedy the vast amounts of the waste left beings by EDM show attendees through most of the year.

Speaking to EDM.com about the project, organization founder Jolyon Klean and OSP partner Posey Collins said,
“The hW x Orca Sound Project collection shows our commitment to supporting the preservation of our oceans and. in this case. particularly Ibiza, inspiring conscious living and tourism on the island. Each piece is totally unique and has a deep meaning that represents positive action and awareness of the self and your surroundings.”

In another initiative where they have partnered with the government, an art installation has been proposed for display at Ibiza airport, which would be made using plastic collected on the island and built with a local ecology center, Casita Verde.

Speaking about this initiative, they said,

“This will be on display at the airport with the mission to raise awareness whilst encouraging islanders and its visitors to be more responsible for their actions and footprint on the island. Our mission is to empower new conscious communities of the future to make measurable change.”

It’s cool when there is an opportunity to gather and remove garbage collectively. We in London do not like collective cleaning, and very often, they simply ignore me with a request to get together and start general cleaning of my area. The only day many come out is Earth Day.

Thank you for the article. Great idea for plastic recycling. I have read a lot of such articles and every time I am surprised how people come up with new products from recycled plastic.
