Space Ibiza to close down after 25+ years in the business!
Space in Ibiza, Spain has become an institution that has not only broken down barriers but also defined them. Growing from a small modest club to becoming the quintessential place to be, Space nightclub has become a world famous destination. From legendary parties to the dj’s that play there, there are parties and then there are SPACE parties. It’s no wonder why Space’s legend status has become firmly cemented in the island’s long history plus has the awards to prove it!
Starting in 1989 long time club owner, Pepe Roselló, began with a dream. Over the 27 year history, not only has the club become a right of passage, not only to the people that go there but also to the dj’s/musicians that play there.
Unfortunately Space will be no more as of October of this year & will officially be closed down. It’s not the end though, this is just the beginning of something new. The property has been bought by the Ushuaia Group (the same company that owns the Ushuaia Ibiza Beach Hotel & Ushuaia Tower), across the way from where Space stands now.
Carl Cox recently mentioned to inthemix saying, “Pepe [Rosello], the owner of Space, his contract is up at the club [in 2016]. He’s going to be 80-years-old and will officially be out. It gets handed over to Ushuaïa Group across the road and its manager Jan will be given the keys to run Space. And once that happens, everything changes.”
So when the club reopens, will it ever be the same? Only time will tell!
