Artist Manager and former DJ Mag sales manager Michael Theanne passed away on February 29, 2020 at the age of 45.

After working on game-changing work with DJ Mag in 2008, Theanne started his own music management company called Seminal Music. As one of his first clients, he picked up a then-unknown DJ and producer, Steve Aoki. As Aoki’s manager for the UK and international territories, he was responsible for establishing Aoki as a global EDM star across the world. He helped secure headlining slots for Aoki at major European festivals, such as Tomorrowland, and was also the one who got him the coveted Ibiza residencies, including this summers’ run at Amnesia.

Theanne was also very involved with Aoki’s documentary “I’ll Sleep When I’m dead” and even received a Grammy nomination for his work on the documentary in 2016.

While the cause for the death is still unknown as the coroner’s report is still pending, Theanne is said to have collapsed while returning home from a hike with his dogs.

However, Aoki wasn’t the only act Theanne managed. He also was the global manager for EDM trio Cheat Codes and DJ and producer Deorro. While he had just parted ways with Deorro just last month, the DJ put out a heartfelt tribute to the man on Instagram saying, “this man would move mountains for me.” He also went on to say, “For nearly a decade this man made the biggest difference in my life. Thank you for everything, thank you for being my manager, my brother, thank you for believing in me and everything we wanted to do.”

Affectionately known as Mickey t in the industry as reported by DJ Mag, he worked as a sales manager with them from 2000-2008. He was DJ Mag’s go-to man in Ibiza covering a number of seasons and taking charge of the seasonal Ibiza magazine, said DJ Mag’s Commercial Director Heath Holmes as he remembered Theanne.

He also went on to say, “Michael traveled the world representing the magazine and was responsible for the first of DJ Mag’s license deals, which saw the magazine published in Brazil in 2007. As one of the scene’s real characters, he will be sadly missed. There was never a dull moment when Mickey T was about!”

Theanne is survived by his wife Elena and his daughter Luna. In a statement from the family, they said, “Michael’s incredibly warm, loving and generous spirit impacted all around him. We know that many of you will join us as we continue to carry Michael in our hearts forever. At this time, our family asks that we be allowed to process this devastating and sudden loss in private. Information regarding a funeral and memorial will be forthcoming.”
