Cosmic Boys’ run the Legend record label as an extension of their own musical tastes and the imprint’s roster ranges from established names like Sisko Electrofanatik and Space 92 to up-and-coming talent such as Nure and Nico Cabeza.
Focused on a peak-time style of techno with hands-in-the-air moments and explosive bass drops, the label has become a respected outlet that draws the attention of many influential DJs.
One of the artists that have become a Legend mainstay is AKKI (DE), who returns to feature on his sixth release including EPs, singles and remixes. His latest offering is a single called “Inside My Head”.
AKKI (DE) is a German producer and DJ from Frankfurt who is fast becoming one of the most hyped-up names in techno. Many people are already aware of him via releases on UMEK’s 1605 and Spartaque’s Codex, but Legend is the label that he frequents the most.
Not only has he featured many solo tracks and remixes on Legend, but he also had a big hit called “Dark Place” that was made in collaboration with the Cosmic Boys.
‘Inside My Head’ is a powerful track that sets the scene with its heavy kick drum and it unfolds as the bassline opens up under a filter. As the bass grows to become more of the driving force, the lead synth fills the track with flickers of euphoria.
Its dark and light contrast keeps the listener in a captivated suspense that has them hanging onto every beat and the breakdown section is a spine-tingling moment that ends with the drums taking things up a gear.
