The horrific explosion that happened in the capital of Lebanon wiped out a big chunk of the country’s economic activity which includes the nightclub district.

The local government officials made it clear that the blast was caused by 2700 tonnes of ammonium nitrate stored in the port warehouse.

Many Nightclubs of Beirut were located very close to the warehouse where the explosion took place. Many of these places were the ones that triggered the start of the nightlife scene in Lebanon. This includes “Gärten” which is run by the überhaus. Gärten was one of the first clubs to provide for a growing dance music scene in Lebanon. The blast also affected the famous rave spot “The Egg”. The parties held by protestors at the illegal rave spot as a part of the recent anti-government protests made a significant statement.

The Governor of Beirut, Marwan Abboud, has stated that the city has suffered an economic loss that crosses 3 billion dollars and that the local hospitals are filled.

In a short dialogue with Mixmag, co-founder of “The Ballroom” Blitz Moe Choucair said, “The nightclub district is indeed all along with the port but the damage means nothing to our team in comparison to the apocalyptic disaster our country went through”.

He has also mentioned that they have stopped thinking as a club and started thinking as a team of individuals pooling ideas to try and help in the most efficient way they can think of.

There are a few ways to help the people of Lebanon get back up and here are few institutions that everyone can donate to.
