The United States of America is burning, literally and figuratively, as we report this.

Protests and riots have been erupting across the country after videos surfaced of the inhumane death of George Floyd by four officers from the Minneapolis Police Department.

At the heart of the protests was what began on May 25. In what was later reconstructed from videos from bystanders, security cameras, etc Minneapolis police officers arrested George Floyd, a 46-year-old black man, after a deli employee called 911, accusing him of buying cigarettes with a counterfeit $20 bill. In just seventeen mins from then, Floyd lay on the ground handcuffed and lifeless.

The day after Mr. Floyd’s death, the Police Department fired all four of the officers involved in the episode, and on last Friday the Hennepin County Attorney, Mike Freeman, announced murder and manslaughter charges against Derek Chauvin, the officer who was seen most clearly in witness videos pinning Mr. Floyd to the ground.

The industry is expressing its support and making themselves heard. Here are some of the statements below.

Over the past few days, I’ve been shocked, frustrated, and saddened after hearing about George Floyd’s death. It’s hard to fathom how these things can still be happening. It’s difficult to watch the news and see the division, violence, and hardships people are facing. It truly breaks my heart. Although we all come from different backgrounds and circumstances, there’s one thing that binds our rave community together: acceptance. No matter where you come from, the color of your skin, or your sexual orientation at the end of the day we are all human and deserve EQUALITY. I call upon each and every one of us to do everything we can to live our lives by the ideals our culture was founded on: PEACE, LOVE, UNITY, & RESPECT. It’s why I fell in love with this community, and it’s the reason I’ve dedicated my life to it. These words are important now and every single day. To treat others as you would like to be treated is so much more than just a saying our parents or teachers taught us when we were young. I implore you to love and care for one another, and to take the values of our beautiful community to heart. I know that nothing we can say about the past can undo this tragedy, but our actions today can create a future that is so much greater than the world we are living in now. We must come together with love for there to be change. Lots of Love, prayers, and healing powers to the Floyd family. My heart breaks with you. #GeorgeFloyd
