Never standing still or dwelling on past successes, GURU are back once again, taking us down yet another un-trodden path with their new release from Tony Romera. The young but highly acclaimed French producer keeps the energy cranked but injects “All I Want” with bags of ghetto-funk to create a vibrant and unique club strut.

Snapping rhythms and shuffling drums get us underway before a huge rolling bassline powers its way into the mix alongside lyrically fluid vocals. The bassline provides the backbone of the entire track, laying down the relentless forward momentum and a heavy, 4am warehouse vibe. As it throngs forward with the weight of a jumbo jet, the bass catches the dancefloor up in a swirl of mechanics and FX that sends the track into overdrive. Hip-hop style vocals add real flavor and character to the tune, just as ominous tones in the background bring the intensity and sense of drama.

GURU’s last three releases have really highlighted the dexterity of the label, all pushing a totally different sound but maintaining that astonishingly high quality. Tony Romera’s “All I Want” is another example of how GURU consistently takes things to the next level.
