0

Our Artist of the Month for June 2016 is an artist who derived his stage name from a computer virus, is a native of Belgium, and is a drum & bass specialist. Citing Spor, Ewun and Counterstrike as some of his early influences. Killing it through the years with his velvety tracks, topping charts and winning the hearts of dn&b fans all over the world. Oh yeah, it is none other than Boris Daenen, better known as Netsky.

Some of Netsky’s popular singles include ‘We Can Only Live Today’, ‘Work It Out’, ‘Come Alive’ and ‘Running Low’ which have topped the charts in Belgium. He was also featured on Jauz’ recent hit track ‘Higher’.

Netsky has remixed for the likes of Miike Snow, Pendulum, ‘One’ by Swedish House Mafia, Jessie J, Madeon, Jack U, and Ed Sheeran to name a few. He also features on the Hospital Podcast and regularly features on Hospital Record’s mix compilations, featuring other drum and bass focused mixes.

Within just months of his first release, after signing to Hospital Records back in 2009, he won a nomination as “Best Upcoming Producer” at the Drum + Bass Arena Awards.

Following through with that success, Boris released his debut studio album in May 2010, named after himself. With this he managed to effortlessly broke into the Top 25 charts in Belgium. He followed it up in 2012, with an album called ‘2’, which reached the number one spot in Belgium.

2 is the second album from Belgian drum and bass producer Netsky.

Recently he released a single called ‘Rio’ which made it to the New Years Celebration in London. Once again showing why Netsky is one of the biggest names in the scene.

Netsky-LIVE

Netsky has decided to explore other avenues of music performance and innovation in the form of his project called “Netsky Live”. He unveiled this project in 2012 during a festival in Brixton. The project showcases Boris’s skills in a band format. The band consists of himself (on keyboard and synth) along with five other members who join him on stage. The band now performs all over the world, and has also played at Ultra Music Festival, Miami. Clearly Boris is showing that there are many ways to enhance dance music performance, giving audiences a satisfying, alternative experience to his music.

Netsky has avidly spoken in support of and encouraging Drum and Bass to be showcased at major festivals. Exposing a greater fan base for the genre.

A little bit of different side of the DJ/producer guy can be seen on Netsky’s popular Instagram account, where he posts up stuff that he cooks! Pretty cool, the guy can cook and make beautiful music. Ladies calm yourselves down!

More recent news from the Netsky camp is the highly anticipated third studio album, most appropriately named ‘3’, which releases in June 2016, and we wish him all the best for it!
