Disney Gets Into Yet Another EDM Related Fued

0

Disney’s back into EDM news, and this time it’s for their ongoing legal battle relating their movie, Tomorrowland!

Featuring George Clooney and Hugh Laurie, the movie, titled Tomorrowland, is set to be a futuristic science fiction movie. The major issue surrounding the dispute is that ID&T partially own the trademark on the word ‘Tomorrowland’.

ID&T holds the rights to Tomorrowland in Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands, thus blocking Disney from releasing the movie in these three respective countries.

Disney has a trademark registration in the USA for the term Tomorrowland, dating back to 1970. With this registration, it was successfully able to prevent the music festival from calling itself Tomorrowland when it launched in the USA (hence, Tomorrowworld). However, the music festival has the rights to the term in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg and has prevented Disney from using the name in these countries.

For all those fans who have just heard of Tomorrowland, the festival, here’s the trailer for the movie, in theatres May 22.
