New Release: Sander van Doorn, Martin Garrix, DVBBS feat Aleesia – Gold Skies (Original Mix) [Spinnin’ Records]

A month and a half ago, when “Animals” producer Martin Garrix was looking to close his Ultra Music Festival set with a big track, he reached back for “Gold Skies,” his at-that-point unreleased collaboration with DVBBS and Sander van Doorn.

“Alex and Chris from DVBBS came with first idea for the track,” Garrix tells Rolling Stone. “When they played the melody and sang the vocals, Sander and I immediately fell in love.”

“‘Gold Skies’ was the first song we wrote when we moved in to our Los Angeles house,” DVBBS explains in a joint e-mail. “Essentially, our studio was the only room with furniture.” The duo then sent their demo to Spinnin’ Records, who connected them with Garrix and van Doorn. “We were so ecstatic because we’re such huge fans of Sander’s and Martin’s work.”

Below, hear the radio edit that resulted from this collaboration, a strong EDM summer jam that rises and falls twice in the track’s four minutes.

Concludes van Doorn: “It was fantastic to work with such talented young producers. The DVBBS brothers make great songs and I love their vocals, and Martin is just a genius in the studio. Probably the most talented boy I’ve met.”
