For someone whose career started just recently, Dart Rayne & Yura Moonlight have already got support from Armin van Buuren, Tiesto, Markus Schulz, Gareth Emery, Sean Tyas, Aly & Fila, Judge Jules, Paul Oakenfold, Dash Berlin and others. They have released their music on labels such as Armada, Black Hole & High Contrast.
T.H.E – Music Encyclopedia managed to catch up with exciting young trance DJ/Producer duo, Dart Rayne & Yura Moonlight! Check out our exclusive interview below where they describe the dance music scene in Ukraine, their musical influences and what it means to be supported by Armin van Buuren!
T.H.E -Congratulations on the release of your Battleship/Athena EP. You guys have been belting peaktime Trance Anthems consistently over the past three years with “Silhouette” and “Stole The Sun” leading the pack! So how did all start?
Dart Rayne & Yura Moonlight – In 2008, we started creating electronic music and making our first steps. As long as first tunes were born, we improved our DJ skills and played at our first parties. At that time, we were separate but always in touch from the beginning :)
T.H.E – Your clever and unique sound has won support from the biggest DJs in the world, including arguably the biggest DJ of them all, Armin van Buuren! Tell us how is the experience of having your tracks featured on ASOT radio shows and getting massive interactions on social media from avid followers of the show!
Dart Rayne & Yura Moonlight – We are very happy with Armin’s support each time! His radioshow gives an opportunity to spread your music to the millions of trance fans all over the world.
T.H.E – Where do you do your recording? Is there a particular studio or space that you’re most comfortable with?
Dart Rayne & Yura Moonlight – We have 2 separate studios with similar equipment and exchanging ideas with each other.
T.H.E – Who were some of your musical influences while growing up?
Dart Rayne & Yura Moonlight – Trance music from the middle 2000’s had a great influence on us. Gareth Emery, Eric Prydz, Martin Roth inspired us and made us fall in love with EDM.
T.H.E – You Guys are a perfect fit for each other. So what is the history of Dart Rayne & Yura Moonlight? How did you Guys get together? Did you ever anticipate the impact you both have created together on “Trance” music?
Dart Rayne & Yura Moonlight – All started from visiting biggest EDM festivals. Then we decided to create electronic music and here is the result. :) It was just a hobby at the beginning but now music is our life!
T.H.E – Tell us something about your radio show/podcast.
Dart Rayne & Yura Moonlight – We decided to create new mix show after we united into 1 project. DRYM Podcast shows to our listeners what exact sound we prefer at the moment and what they can hear from us at gigs.
T.H.E – How would you describe the dance music scene in Ukraine?
Dart Rayne & Yura Moonlight – The music scene in Ukraine is still developing but we can already see upcoming names. We have difficult political situation at the moment so many parties are cancelled. But we believe in better times and then we will have a real European dance scene here.
T.H.E – Out of all your tracks, “Silhouette” arguably has had the maximum impact. How did the opportunity come about to enlist the vocal talents of Sarah Lynn?
Dart Rayne & Yura Moonlight – As first, we created the tune. Then we showed it to our fellow Raz Nitzan and he found a great vocalist for it. So that’s how it was created. One interesting thing: we named it Silhouette before we got lyrics :)
T.H.E – How would you describe the importance of social media in bridging the gap between artists and their fans?
Dart Rayne & Yura Moonlight – Social media nowadays bring unmeasured opportunities. For musicians, they are vital so we spend a lot of time developing our social pages. You should pay attention to the content to attract as much listeners as you can. You can make great music but without social media you won’t use all results of it.
T.H.E – If not DJs/Producers, what would Dart Rayne & Yura Moonlight be?
Dart Rayne & Yura Moonlight – We can’t even imagine another profession for us :) Maybe cosmonauts.
