For Firebeatz, the name says it all. The Dutch duo made up of Tim and Jurre are known for their fierce productions and high energy DJ sets, and it’s not too hard to see how they went from being students in The Netherlands to the dynamic force that is Firebeatz.

With massive dancefloor hits and widespread support from their peers and fans alike, Firebeatz have already become an established name within the global dance music industry. By consistently touring the world and spreading their musical philosophy, Firebeatz continues to grow their fanbase every single day.

We managed to get a chance to speak to the duo about the story behind the name, “Firebeatz”, their favourite party destination, EDM becoming commercial and loads more!

Find out what the Dutch duo had to say! :)

T.H.E – Tell us the story behind the name, “Firebeatz”. How did it come about?

Firebeatz – There is a Dutch expression that says “go as fast as the fireman,” and in the beginning when we were working in the studio we always said “it needs to go like the fireman.” When we needed to get a name, we decided that it needed to be something to do with fire and came up with Firebeatz.

T.H.E – A lot of DJs feel that EDM is becoming mainstream. Deadmau5 recently commented saying that EDM will start to go down soon. What are your views on that?

Firebeatz – Well, the sound and styles are always changing, but we won’t see the edm going down any soon. It has so much energy and people every where around the world just want to hear it when they want to have a good party!

T.H.E – A lot of sounds these days that you hear are similar. Most of them would hold places in Beatport charts. As producers, do you’ll feel the burden to focus more on the fact that your sounds should appeal to a mass audience or do you’ll work with the freedom of making what you like?

Firebeatz – We always try to have fun in the studio, working on new synths, new sounds, different samples so yes we are free to do whatever we want, but ofcourse we also want to make some tunes that are suited for a proper rave and a lot of people would then say it’s for the mass audience.

T.H.E – Another concept which has had a lot of people talking about it is the fact that some of the festivals are being brandished a lot bigger than the participating artists themselves. What are your views on it? After all, isn’t it the artists who make the festivals what they are and are the sole reason why a fan attends it?

Firebeatz – Nowadays the festivals give a whole experience to the fans, so off course the music and the artists deliver the sound but for the party crowd we can immagine festivals trying do something different and focus on branding and production more & more.

T.H.E – Recently a fan threw a cola can on Dillon Francis. Even Zedd commented saying that the current generation of EDM fans are way too rude. What is your take on it? On one side, you do have artists & fans getting closer through social media channels. However, it results in such outbreaks. Why do you think this happens?

Firebeatz – We don’t know if somebody threw that cola on him on purpose so no comment on that.. But on social media, people dare to be rude. When you see them face to face or in a personal message some of them act totally different. A lot of people just want to have some attention, and we would just say if you don’t like somebody’s music why even take the time to be bitching about it, just listn to something you do like :-)

T.H.E – Let’s take a break from the serious side of EDM. :) We would like to ask you 5 questions which would are on a much more lighter note. If you’ll were stuck on an island, what is that one song you’ll would definitely want to have on your iPod?

Firebeatz – Drake 0 to 100

T.H.E – What would you’ll prefer more – DJ Mag Top 5 or a sold out solo tour in the Netherlands?

Firebeatz – A solo tour! Nothing beats to be in front of a big crowd that comes out just to see you!

T.H.E – What other genre of music do you’ll listen to and which Rap/Pop star would make a cool DJ, according to you’ll?

Firebeatz – We listen to a lot of stuff like Hiphop, Drum n Bass, Indie, Pop & Rock! Just good music, if it’s good we will listen to it.

T.H.E – Miami or Ibiza? And which other destination has the best party atmosphere?

Firebeatz – Miami! Love that place ;) Uhm we think New York is amazing too!

T.H.E – Thank you Guys for taking the time out to answer our questions. We would like to wish you all the very best in your future endeavours. :)
