T.H.E – Music Encyclopedia managed to catch up with Menno De Jong to talk about what went into the making of the 20th edition of the legendary “In Trance We Trust” compilation!

T.H.E – How has the reaction to your latest CD been?

Menno De Jong – So far very good! A lot of effort was put in so that’s a great thing.

T.H.E – How long did this CD take to make from start to finish, recording-wise?

Menno De Jong – The longest part of the process was gathering the tracks for the CD, this took nearly two months! Finding the right running order and getting to the final mix took about two days.

T.H.E – What kind of ‘sound’, production wise, did you have in the back of your mind, prior to entering the studio?

Menno De Jong – I wanted to make it a CD true to the sound of Trance, with some new exciting material, classic reworks and big tracks combined with my own productions.

T.H.E – How pleased are you with the final outcome? (sound – production wise)

Menno De Jong – Very pleased, some of the tracks on the CD have been in my sets for months now, timeless tracks.

T.H.E – Please inform us about your favourite songs from the compilation!

Menno De Jong – Johan Ekman: Rocking, John Newall: Grand Central and Gal Abutbul & Tim Briggs: Revert.

T.H.E – Are there any ‘crazy’ behind the scenes anecdotes from these sessions that you can share with us?

Menno De Jong – To be honest, not really, I like to keep things normal and go about my music diligently, for me that’s the best way to work.

T.H.E – How would you describe the sound of your new CD to any potential new fan?

Menno De Jong – Melodic and driving Trance with a touch of magic.

T.H.E – Who are your influences and heroes? (music-wise)

Menno De Jong – My biggest hero in the Trance scene has always been Tiesto – up until when he changed styles. Outside of Trance I really love Sasha, Joris Voorn and Paul Kalkbrenner – they all have a melodic and melancholic touch to their music similar to what I like in Trance, but at a more “relaxing” BPM.

T.H.E – Before we wrap up, would you like to share something about the 20th edition of “In Trance We Trust” which hasn’t been shared yet?

Menno De Jong – It’s probably the best Trance mix-album you’ll hear this year, so give it a listen.

T.H.E – Any message for your fans in India?

Menno De Jong – Thanks for all your support, I love India and hope to be back very soon! :)
