Emmi

London-by-way-of-Perth singer/songwriter Emmi recently returned with a brand new single ‘You Said You Loved Me’, ramping up her remarkable trajectory to the upper echelons of pop.

Co-written by Emmi herself alongside David Dawood (Roll Deep, Tinchy Stryder) and Tonino Speciale (Ella Eyre, Felix Jaehn), ‘You Said You Loved Me’ is a certified pop masterpiece, complete with an undeniably huge hook and cutting, dramatic strings, all driven by rumbling beats and delivered with Emmi’s ever-distinctive voice.

To celebrate the release, we got in touch with the singer and got her to reveal her top 10 favourite tracks of the moment. Check out her picks below. :)

1: ’Tilted’ Christine and The Queens

Christine is my new obsession. I love everything about her. This tune is simple and incredibly catchy in the most simple and effective way. When you watch her perform it, it will stay with you forever. I believe she produced it herself too, so hats off to her on all fronts.

2: ‘Faded’ Alan Walker feat Iselin Solheim

I love the emotion of this piece, left bare so skilfully by Walker’s sensitive production. I love Iselin’s voice too. I performed at a big Scandinavian concert ‘VG Lista’ in Oslo last weekend and this was the finale tune… it was really special to experience… particularly in Alan and Iselin’s home country!

3: ‘Sorry’ Justin Bieber

What a come back that album was. I’m a converted Belieber. One of the best pop songs of the decade to my mind. Perfection.

4: ‘Hymn for the Weekend’ Coldplay

Beautiful. Coldplay typical stunning, cinematic, epic, chant ville pop. Add Beyonce? Heaven. Seeing this live at the BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend the night I played was nothing short of spiritual.

5: ‘Can’t Feel My Face’ The Weekend

This guy is awesome. This song is undeniable. ‘The Hills’ is as good. I don’t think this bloke can put a foot wrong. Respect.

6: Alicia Keys ‘In Common’

I’ve always been a fan girl of Miss Keys. Her ‘Songs in A Minor’ album was the first body of pop music I connected with. It’s great to see her moving through and with the times and showing new sides to her. This tune is so different for her but I love it. Proper chill vibes.

7: Astrid S ‘Hurts So Good’

Love this new Norwegian treasure. This post hook is everything. Epic goodness. Another discovery from recent shows in Norway.

8: Anne Marie ‘Do It Right’

Sassy soul, just the way I love it. And that voice. A proper London artist, which I love.

9: Lady Leshurr ‘Queen’s Speech’

I love me a character and Lady Leshurr is unlike anybody. She is bringing the fun back into music and I love her for it.

10: ‘Gold’ Kiiara

This tune came out last year on the sly but is finally getting the traction it deserves on our air waves. Subtle tune from a unique new artist. This vocal chop shows everyone how it’s done.
