The popularity of Electronic Dance Music is growing and with incredible EDM festivals across the world, it’s no wonder EDM lovers are on the hunt for some of the best festivals to check out.
Traveling is fun, but it’s even more fun when you can enjoy some of the biggest music events of the year. Of course, with so many festivals to choose from, it’s easy to understand why many of you are shy about buying tickets. Perhaps the greatest example would be the recent mis-Fyre Festival (one of the founders was arrested on charges of fraud). It was touted as the ultimate destination festival, with social media biggest influences promoting it, it seemed as though the Bahamas’ Fyre Festival was the place to be for anyone looking for a VIP experience and great music. Many attendees paid over $10,000 for their tickets only to arrive and discover a situation more akin to camping than a VIP event.
If you want to avoid being burned and ensure that you’re taking part in a serious EDM festival then stick with us because we have compiled a list of the 4 biggest festivals across the globe. Don’t worry if you already have tickets and your festival hasn’t made the list. These are just the 4 most popular, it doesn’t mean you aren’t in good hands with another festival.
So, which of the EDM festivals are the biggest and where in the world are they? Let’s check them out below (in no particular order).
1. Tomorrowland, Belgium
This annual Belgian EDM festival is unofficially the crème de la crème of EDM festivals. Within minutes of the tickets being released the festival is sold out making it one of music’s most anticipated events and the tickets the most sought after on the EDM calendar. It takes place every year at the end of July and the biggest names will be there, from Martin Garrix to Armin van Buuren. Moreover, it was the biggest social media music event of 2017 with over 200 million viewers and a billion views!
2. Creamfields, England
Held in Cheshire this English EDM festival has grown over the years and now features 6 stages with some of the industry’s biggest DJs. It’s an August affair and 2017s stars included Deadmau5 as well as Eric Prydz. It’s certainly England’s biggest music festival, but not the fever has spread across the globe and people from all over the world are looking to get in on the action.
3. Ultra Music Festival, Miami
This giant festival takes place in Miami in March and you can expect to see the likes of The Prodigy, Underworld, DJ Snake, Major Lazer, David Guetta, and more. This festival has been going strong for almost 20 years and continues going from strength to strength. Tickets are already on sale, though the lineup hasn’t been finalized. You can see from 2017’s names, though, that the biggest names in EDM will always show up.
4. Electric Daisy Carnival, Las Vegas
This is one of the largest EDM festivals outside of Europe and took place in Las Vegas during June, but 2018’s festival is set for May. If you can stand the heat you’ll be in for a treat. 230 performed at the 2017 event and the big names involved include Martin Garrix, Kygo, Afrojack, Porter Robinson, and the legendary Tiësto. You can snag tickets now if you hurry. Better yet, you can even have your wedding there and make it the most memorable festival ever!
You may not have realized just how many EDM festivals there are, this is just a small (amazing) taste of what is out there. If you want to spread your wings and travel further (or even find a festival closer to home) then you can check out Detroit’s Movement Festival, Croatia’s Hideout, Barcelona’s Sonar, Hungary’s Ozora, Australia’s Stereosonic Festival, New York’s Electric Zoo or The Netherlands’ Mysteryland.
