Taylor Swift shall bring the “Eras Tour” to Madrid on the 29th and 30th of May this year and believe it or not, that will be the 3rd time that the 34-year-old singer will officially visit Spain since the start of her career in 2003.
The “Eras Tour” seems to have generated new fans for Taylor Swift in countries she probably never knew she could have fans. And in countries like Spain where she had Swifties before, it rekindled the love they had for her, causing them to make some noise and force Taylor Swift to include them in the schedule for her concerts.
Even though Madrid only got 2 concerts, it’s enough for the Swfities there to feel what it’s like in the “Eras Tour.” And they sure are better than places that didn’t get to host Taylor Swift during this era. Truly, it’s of great sadness and a missed opportunity to experience greatness as well.
It was a bit hard to believe that Taylor Swift had only visited Spain twice in her lifetime. The first time Taylor Swift officially visited Spain was during her 2nd career tour, “Speak Now World Tour” which started in 2011 and ended in 2012.
During that tour, Taylor visited Madrid on the 19th of March, 2011, and performed in Palacio de los Deportes, with just 4 thousand people attending the concert. Even though attendance wasn’t something to write home about, with “The Bright” being her opening act, Taylor managed to make $251,864 in revenue on that night.
Her second visit was in 2013, just 1 year after she concluded the “Speak Now World Tour.” Taylor was invited to perform in an award show, and her choice song was, “We Are Never Getting Back Together,” which is the lead single from her 4th career album, “Red.”

Taylor Swift’s Madrid Concert Collides With Madrid’s La Liga Match
Coupled with the anticipation for Taylor Swift’s visit to Madrid, is also the anticipation for Madrid’s Final La Liga match of the season which is slated to be held on the 24th of May, 2024, just 5 days to Taylor Swift’s first Madrid concert in more than 10 years.
Even though the La Liga match and Taylor Swift’s concerts are 5 days apart, we received news that Real-Madrid sent a request to La-Liga to reschedule their final match of the season, from the 24th of May to the 23rd of May.
The reason for this request, as stated by Real Madrid, is to create some time for them to properly prepare the stadium for the much anticipated Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour” that has been rocking the world for months now.
Safe to say, Real Madrid is made up of solid Swifties for them to consider rescheduling their final match of the season for the sake of Taylor Swift’s concerts. If their request is granted by La Liga, then music will have won over football again in Europe, just like it conquered the NFL in America.
Because it takes roughly 1 week to fully prepare a stadium for a tour of calibre as the “Eras Tour,” we do hope that La Liga considers Real Madrid’s request and reschedule their match day from the 24th to 23rd of May. It will be a tough decision to make since it might as well affect other La Liga match fixtures, but our fingers are crossed on this.
How Football Fans Reacted To Real Madrid’s Request On Rescheduling The La Liga Final Match Day
It turns out that European football fans are not as toxic as some American football fans since from what we’ve been able to gather online, Some Real Madrid fans are in line with the request to reschedule the match day to allow them more time to prepare the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu for Taylor Swift’s concerts.
This came in contrast to some NFL fans who feel extreme resentment towards Taylor Swift because the NFL occasionally displayed her images on the big screens of the stadiums, during games, instead of covering the actual game.
However, also bearing in mind that the rescheduling might affect other La Liga fixtures, some football icons have reacted in a rather unsettled manner to Real Madrid’s request to shift the date backwards.
MIFFIN made a YouTube post which highlighted a comment made by one of the greatest football players in the world, and also an Ex Madrid player, Cristiano Ronaldo with regards to Madrid’s request to change the match day.
The comment was made under an Instagram post that was aimed at explaining how the rescheduling will be. Cristiano Ronaldo said, “Football always comes first,” and that sort of sparked a debate online between Swifties and die-hard football lovers.

When you look at things from Swiftie’s perspective, it makes perfect sense that Taylor Swift’s concert be given more attention because it is going to be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, as stated by @Flixtex.
However, La Liga isn’t just a regular match-day fixture, it is the finals. This is one of the major points that football fans seem to be relying on and it is solid.
Neutrally, it will make sense that Madrid prepares well enough for the “Eras Tour.” It is moving like a wave, and if they are not well prepared, it might sweep them off their feet. There’s football, and then there’s Taylor Swift controlling thousands of people with her microphone, or her small guitar, or her stage piano.
