Noisia have had nothing short of an incredible 12 months. Last summer’s ‘Outer Edges’ album became one of the standout artist releases of 2016, earning them 3 awards at the Drum and Bass Arena Awards (Best Producer, Best Album with ‘Outer Edges’ & best video with ‘Mantra’), ‘Best Album’ at the UK Drum And Bass Awards, and contributed towards them receiving the Beatport award for ‘Best-Selling Drum & Bass Artist’.

‘Outer Edges’ just got a refreshing remix makeover from 20 different artists. Released on 7 April, the compilation brings together remixes of last summer’s ‘Outer Edges’ studio album from the likes of Bassnectar, Ivy Lab, Machinedrum, Amon Tobin, Camo & Krooked, Mat Zo, Dyro, The Upbeats, and more.

Handpicked by Nik, Martijn, and Thijs, the artists range from across the electronic music spectrum, with many of the mixes taking the original versions outside of drum & bass entirely – something Noisia were keen to achieve with this project.

The remix album is so good that the listener is spoilt for choice. 20 monstrous remixes from some of the most biggest names in the industry. When we sat down to pick our favourite remixes from the album, trust us, we had a really really hard time. Here are some of our favourite remixes from the album:

Noisia – Tentacles (Ivy Lab Remix)

Ivy Lab have been absolutely nailing it when it comes to delivering half-time tunes And they have infused some solid weight on this one. Bringing in the darkness with those signature cinematic alien sounds, this one is our favourite from the album. Skank Out. Properly.

Noisia – Get Deaded (Machinedrum Remix)

Machinedrum has been one of the stalwarts of the scene and his back catalogue explains why. Having experimented in multiple genres, Machinedrum brings some of the freshest sounds you will ever come across. Taking one of the most remarkable tunes from the album, Machinedrum has given a fresh and futuristic flip to ‘Get Deaded’. Whatever Machinedrum does, he does it in style.

Noisia – Motion Blur (DLR Remix)

DLR has been on the forefront of the drum and bass scene. Known for his hypnotic and intriguing sounds, DLR is regarded as one of the finest producers in the circle. Yet again, he has displayed the finesse in his sounds by remixing ‘Motion Blur’. Deep, dark and heavy, this remix is a techy and very challenging tune that brings ominous moods without the aggression, and that bassline will be haunting you for days.

Noisia – Exavolt (Mefjus Remix)

This remix is by far one of the deadliest reworks from the album. Stepping aside from his signature neurofunk sounds, the Austrian Maestrohas absolutely destroyed it with this one. The ‘Exavolt’ remix is an absolute bone crushing tune. Try not to make the ugly bassface after the drop.

Noisia – Mantra (Mat Zo Remix)

While a man like Mat Zo needs no introduction, he has been a massive admirer of the Dutch Maestros. ‘Mantra’ is THE most intense track from ‘Outer Edges’. It’s hard to remix this track and not kill the intensity of the original tune. But Mat Zo has surprised us all with this one. Blending various patterns and styles, it’s one of the most unique remixes from the album. This remix is an example of spectacular sound design and we can safely say, Mat Zo has done justice to the most remarkable track from the album.
