Following an iconic remix for Eric Prydz’s ‘Every Day’ back in 2017 and a slew of critically acclaimed releases on Atlantic Records and Sosumi over the past few years, gregarious Sydney-based twins, Gemellini, return to the fray with an epic double-sided single on Kryder’s newly formed ‘Kryteria’ imprint.

They chat with us about their new EP, and the influence Kryder has had on their career so far!

T.H.E – Hey guys! Welcome to T.H.E – Music Essentials. What have you been up to?

Gemellini – Hi guys, thanks for having us! We’ve been busy working away in the studio and spending time with family here in Australia. We went over to Amsterdam for our first ADE which was Amazing! Definitely going back!

T.H.E – It’s been a year almost, since your massive remix of Eric Prydz’ ‘Every Day’ went viral, which certainly was the highlight of 2017. What have been your highlights of 2018 so far?

Gemellini – A year already! Time flies! Our Eric Prydz remix is still getting so much love. We have people inboxing us ‘Everyday’ for it.

The highlight so far for 2018 was definitely being a part of Kryder’s God Save the Groove compilation including playing at his sick boat party at ADE!

T.H.E – From a music production standpoint, do you feel you have managed to develop your own sound?

Gemellini – Yeah, we feel like we have in one way and still kinda trying new things in another. It’s important to create our own sound without staying too stale at the same time. We take inspirations from a few genres and fuse them all together.

T.H.E – Talking about music, you have a new EP out on Kryder’s Kryteria imprint. What can you tell us about it?

Gemellini – Yep, Afterparty and Smash the Disco recently was released on Kryder’s God Save the Groove 3 part Compilation. We are very proud and happy to be a part of such a sweet project! Afterparty is more of a club tech-house track and Smash the Disco is more of a fun house track with a spin on a disco vibe. Both songs were inspired by their respective hooklines and then we built the music around that.

T.H.E – Signing on Kryder’s label, is certainly a huge deal. How much of an influence has he had, on your careers so far?

Gemellini – Kryder has had a huge influence on our music since starting. Kryder was the first big name to give us a voice to other artists and a larger fan base by signing our first record ‘Cavenda’ on his former ‘Sosumi Records’. This was the first time we entered 1001 tracklists seeing that record get played and supported by not only Kryder himself but artists like Benny Benassi, Deniz Koyu, Dada Life, New_ID and more and also Kryder included it in his BBC Radio 1 essential mix. Now a lot more people know and support our music and it’s mainly due to Kryder!:)

T.H.E – What can be expected from Gemellini in 2019?

Gemellini – We will continue to work hard on fresh new music and tour in more places around the world. Hopefully, we get to come to a city near you! Thanks again for having us guys! Ciao!
