Hollywood rolled out the red carpet for the 2025 Oscars, but Adam Sandler strolled onto it like he was heading to his local deli.
Sporting a blue hoodie with a ‘HAPPY’ logo, basketball shorts, and Curry sneakers, Sandler single-handedly turned the glamour dial down, and Twitter’s meme game up.
Breaking the Internet, One Hoodie at a Time
Social media erupted the moment Sandler appeared on-screen. Some fans hailed him as a ‘red carpet revolutionary,’ while others debated whether his outfit was a sign of ultimate confidence or the product of a lost tux rental. Either way, it was peak Sandler.
“Adam Sandler is the only man who could wear basketball shorts to the Oscars and make it look iconic,” one fan tweeted. Others joked that he was dressed for a post-ceremony pick-up game rather than Hollywood’s biggest night.
The Sandler Effect: Hollywood’s Favorite Underdog
It’s not the first time Sandler has leaned into the ‘dad on a coffee run’ aesthetic at major events. In fact, it’s part of his charm. While some actors use award shows as a catwalk, Sandler shows up dressed for comfort, because, well, he can.
His authenticity has made him a rare Hollywood treasure: a multi-millionaire who still looks like he shops exclusively at Costco. And people love him for it.
Does It Even Matter?
At the end of the day, does an Oscars outfit really matter? Sandler’s presence at the ceremony however casually dressed reinforces the idea that Hollywood should embrace personality over tradition. If anything, it’s a reminder that fashion is subjective, and sometimes, all you need is confidence (and really good sneakers).

So, was it a bold fashion choice or just Sandler being Sandler? The answer is probably both. Either way, Hollywood wouldn’t be the same without him.
