Amanda Kloots has confirmed she’s in a new relationship with former tennis star Justin Gimelstob.
The 43-year-old television personality made her red carpet debut with Gimelstob, 48, on April 28 at The Women’s Cancer Research Fund event. Speaking to PEOPLE, Kloots described their romance as “very new,” and emphasized that the couple is still in the “courting” stage.
“It’s been absolutely lovely,” Kloots shared. Gimelstob added, “I hope to never leave that stage. I was admiring her well before she gave me a shot.”
Gimelstob, a former Grand Slam mixed doubles champion who won titles alongside Venus Williams in 1998, didn’t hold back on his admiration. “She’s just an incredibly special person,” he said. “She’s physically beautiful, but it’s more than that. She’s so classy and has so much grace. She’s an amazing mother, generous in spirit, and a phenomenal athlete. Her energy is beautiful. I could keep going all night.”
Kloots returned the sentiment, calling Gimelstob a “wonderful man” and “wonderful father,” and added, “I love how he takes care of me.”
This marks Kloots’ first public relationship since the tragic death of her husband, Broadway star Nick Cordero, who died of complications from COVID-19 in July 2020. The couple share a five-year-old son, Elvis.
Last year, Kloots spoke openly about being open to love again and revealed through mediums that Nick had given her his “blessing” from beyond.
“He has definitely given me his blessing. And he always says it’s coming,” she said at the time. “That’s one of the running themes from readings that I’ve had. I know you’re lonely. It’s coming.”
Despite moving forward, Kloots has been steadfast in honoring Cordero’s memory. On Father’s Day last year, she posted a heartfelt tribute to her late husband on Instagram, writing, “Though you left us too soon, your legacy lives on in Elvis… We say your name every day to make sure you’re never forgotten.”
Kloots also extended her thoughts to others who have experienced similar losses. “My heart goes out not only to those who have lost a father but also to those like me who lost a husband too soon. Cherish the memories, celebrate their love, and hold onto the lessons they taught us.”
With a new chapter unfolding, Amanda Kloots seems to be balancing love, legacy, and hope as she moves forward.
