Aubrey O’Day might be the next bombshell witness in Sean “Diddy” Combs’ federal sex-crimes trial, and her possible testimony is stirring up serious noise.
The Danity Kane singer, mentored by Diddy on MTV’s Making the Band in 2005, was subpoenaed to testify in court, according to sources. Though neither she nor her reps have commented on the matter, a close insider confirms her involvement, and an Instagram post from New York with a justice emoji by O’Day did little to quell speculation. When-or if-she takes the stand, she might just be the most important player in what will likely be one of the most explosive trials in music industry history.
Aubrey O’Day has never been silent about her experience with Diddy. Back in June 2024, she did an emotional interview with the publication, People, where she shared that “there’s no vindication when you’re a victim of someone.” She described the trauma as “a forever thing,” likening it to childhood abuse-the effects are not something that just fade away as you get older, but rather they become clearer and more painful. Such candor could shake the courtroom if she’s called to testify-especially coming after Cassie Ventura Fine’s shocking testimony earlier this week.
Cassie, another former romantic partner of Combs, testified before the court that he physically and emotionally abused her for years. Her testimony included a number of horrific allegations, from rape to manipulation and blackmail, threatening to release videos from his alleged drug-fueled sex parties. It comes after CNN previously leaked 2016 surveillance footage showing Diddy violently attacking her in a hotel hallway. That video went viral in 2023 and has since become a focal point of the case. Cassie’s time on the stand has already lasted days and has left a heavy impact, both inside the courtroom and across social media.
Immediately following Cassie’s court appearance, O’Day took to X and gave her stamp of approval without a shadow of a doubt. She posted, “So many people have thumbs that are more active than their minds. Fear yields a heavy hand. It’s easy to say, it could never be me when you’ve never been handed those shoes to walk in.” While that may seem like a very vague post, it pretty much puts her in the company of an ever-growing list of women showing solidarity against Combs.
The trial is a result of Combs’ September 2024 arrest; federal agents charged the mogul with racketeering, sex trafficking, and transporting individuals across state lines to engage in prostitution. He is currently in Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center in its Special Housing Unit. If convicted, he could face decades behind bars.
Another Danity Kane alum, Dawn Richard, is reportedly being lined up to testify right after O’Day. That would mean two of the five original members from the group Combs created could soon be detailing their own experiences with him under oath. Danity Kane originally consisted of Aubrey O’Day, Dawn Richard, Shannon Bex, Aundrea Fimbres, and D. Woods before seeing several dramatic splits over the years.
O’Day’s own exit from the group back in 2008 was messy and controversial, with Diddy allegedly firing her for not agreeing to things “in other areas” outside of music, according to her interview on the Call Her Daddy podcast in 2022.
Nearly two decades after Diddy launched her career, Aubrey O’Day might be about to reappear center stage in a way that could dramatically shift the trial’s trajectory.
If she testifies-and says even a portion of what she’s hinted at publicly-this could be the turning point in a case that’s already rewriting the rules on the #MeToo movement within the music industry.
