BBC to Expose Diddy’s Fall From Hip-Hop Royalty in Explosive New Doc

The BBC has announced a new investigative doc titled P Diddy: The Rise and Fall, which will examine the dramatic collapse of hip-hop icon Sean “Diddy” Combs.

Set to air on BBC Three and iPlayer on April 28, the documentary comes as Combs awaits trial on federal charges related to racketeering, sex trafficking, and prostitution, charges he has denied.

Hosted by award-winning broadcaster Yinka Bokinni, the film aims to trace Combs’ rapid descent from global music mogul to a disgraced public figure facing severe criminal allegations. The doc promises to unpack both his massive cultural influence and the disturbing accusations that have led to widespread backlash.

According to the BBC, the project will dive deep into the complex world of power, fame, and exploitation. Bokinni will speak with insiders to explore how Combs went from dominating music and fashion to hemorrhaging support from peers and fans within months.

Combs has been in jail for nearly eight months and is currently set to go to trial on May 5, 2025. Prosecutors allege that Combs used his fame and fortune to fuel a criminal enterprise that involved coercion, forced labor, kidnapping, arson, and bribery. He has pleaded not guilty and recently lost an attempt to delay the trial.

In addition to the criminal charges, Combs faces dozens of lawsuits from individuals accusing him of rape, physical assault, and abuse. While he denies all allegations, the mounting legal pressure and media scrutiny have significantly damaged his public image.

The BBC documentary is part of a growing wave of content addressing Combs’ downfall. Other projects include:

  • The Fall of Diddy (Max)
  • The Downfall of Diddy (TMZ)
  • Diddy: Monster’s Fall and Diddy: Summit to Plummet (Prime Video)
  • An unnamed Netflix doc backed by 50 Cent’s G-Unit Films

Bokinni called the process of filming The Rise and Fall “emotional and sometimes difficult,” noting that it pulled back the curtain on a darker side of the entertainment industry. “We sang his songs, bought into the lifestyle, watched the shows and wanted more. But what’s happening now is forcing a hard look at everything we didn’t see, or chose to ignore,” she said.

The documentary intends to not only explore Combs’ personal downfall but also question the structures and systems that allowed alleged abuse to continue unchecked for decades.

Combs, once known as the king of hip-hop entrepreneurship, helped launch careers, build empires, and redefine pop culture. But now, as he sits in jail and awaits trial, his future is uncertain, and his past is under the harshest spotlight yet.

Whether or not he’s convicted, P Diddy: The Rise and Fall will offer viewers a raw look at how one of the industry’s most powerful figures came undone, and what that says about the culture that once celebrated him.

Stay tuned for updates following the documentary’s release on April 28.
