Cassie Ventura Reveals She Nearly Took Her Life Amid Diddy Abuse Flashbacks

The emotional testimony of Cassie Ventura in the trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs against abuse just took an even darker turn.

The singer, whose real name is Casandra Ventura, testified on the stand that in 2023, she almost took her own life as disturbing flashbacks of the alleged abuse she suffered at Combs’ hands throughout her years with the music mogul haunted her. This follows a shocking revelation that took place on May 13, the third day of Combs’ federal trial for sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution.

On her second day on the stand, Cassie described the chilling moment she’d stood at her front door, ready to walk into oncoming traffic with her children sleeping inside the house. She told the court that the flashbacks of the alleged trauma inflicted by Combs had become too much to bear, and it drove her to the edge. “I was spinning out,” she told jurors. “I didn’t want to be alive anymore at that point.”

This is not the first time Cassie has spoken publicly in court about the depth of her suffering. The onetime Bad Boy Records artist has testified to years of mental, physical, and sexual abuse by Combs during their ten-year-plus relationship. One of the most disturbing elements she detailed was being forced into what he called “freak offs”, forced sexual encounters involving multiple participants. She asserted there were “hundreds” of such instances over the years.

But while her romantic relationship with Diddy officially came to an end in 2018-the same year she says he raped her-Cassie admitted the emotional scars never faded. She has since found love again with her now-husband, Alex Fine. The couple shares two daughters and is currently expecting a third child. But despite moving on publicly, she explained the internal turmoil never left. As a matter of fact, it only got worse.

In March 2023, the flashbacks worsened, she said. Her mental health spiralled to the extent where she seriously contemplated suicide. One night, after her daughters were sleeping, she said she reached a breaking point. She described telling her husband, “You can do this without me; you don’t need me anymore,” before trying to leave the house and walk into traffic. Thankfully, Fine intervened and stopped her from leaving, likely saving her life in the process. He has since been spotted supporting her daily in court.

Cassie’s newest testimony is part of the broader case in which the U.S. government accuses Combs of operating a years-long criminal enterprise under the guise of celebrity influence. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges. Cassie is one of several women who are expected to take the stand, but she is demonstrably the most high-profile of those, and her words are shaking up both the courtroom and the wider world watching this trial unfold.

This moment in court brings Cassie’s journey into sharp focus, not just as an ex-girlfriend of a powerful man, but also as a survivor through the aftermath of trauma, motherhood, and healing. The fact that she has had to relive these moments publicly while expecting another child is leaving a mark that will last.

Ventura is expected to return to the witness stand Thursday to continue testimony that already has offered a harrowing look at a life behind the glamour of red carpets and pop videos, and her willingness to speak her truth under oath may very well shape the outcome of this explosive case.
