Sean “Diddy” Combs’ upcoming trial and case just took a major turn: his ex-girlfriend, singer Cassie Ventura, is stepping forward to testify under her real name.
According to newly unsealed court documents, Cassie will be one of four women testifying against Combs in his May 5 federal trial for sex trafficking, racketeering, and prostitution-related charges. While three other women will testify anonymously, Cassie is going public.
This decision comes after years of speculation and a 2023 lawsuit from Cassie, which was settled but reignited public scrutiny when surveillance footage leaked in 2024 appearing to show Diddy physically assaulting her in a Los Angeles hotel. Now, with federal prosecutors building their case, Cassie is back in the spotlight, and this time, it’s on the record.
Prosecutors allege Combs and his associates ran a disturbing scheme involving coercion, violence, and exploitation. One chilling detail: the mention of so-called “freak offs”, elaborately staged sex parties Combs allegedly forced women to participate in.
Court filings state Combs used “force, threats of force and coercion” to recruit and control victims. In addition to Cassie’s testimony, three unnamed victims (Victims 2-4) are also expected to take the stand, though their identities will be protected. Prosecutors argue the high-profile nature of the case and intense media attention justify the anonymity.
Diddy, currently held at the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center, has denied all allegations and pleaded not guilty. His legal team is pushing back, even accusing CNN of manipulating video footage tied to Cassie’s previous claims.
Cassie’s attorney, Douglas Wigdor, says she’s committed to holding Combs accountable: “The video fairly and accurately represents what happened… Combs will be held accountable for his depravity.”
Combs has now been named in over 60 separate lawsuits involving sexual misconduct. This trial will mark the first time some of the most serious allegations against him are heard in open court.
With a public testimony from someone as high-profile as Cassie, this case could become one of the most consequential celebrity crime trials in years.
