Catherine, Princess of Wales Pulls Out of Royal Ascot Appearance Last Minute

Catherine, Princess of Wales, made headlines on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, after she pulled out of attending Royal Ascot at the last minute.

The 43-year-old royal had been expected to join Prince William, King Charles, and Queen Camilla in the traditional carriage procession at the prestigious Berkshire racing event.

According to royal correspondent Chris Ship, Catherine had been listed in the second carriage for the day, signaling her expected presence. However, just hours before the event, she decided not to attend. The decision is believed to be tied to her ongoing efforts to manage her gradual return to public life following her recent health battle.

A Kensington Palace source said that the Princess is still trying to “find the right balance” as she transitions back into public duties. While she has started to make some public appearances again, including her participation in Trooping the Colour on June 14, her schedule remains carefully managed as she focuses on her recovery.

Catherine underwent abdominal surgery in January 2024. Later, she revealed she was undergoing preventative chemotherapy after a cancer diagnosis, which was made public in March 2024. In a hopeful update shared on social media, she confirmed earlier this year that she is now in remission.

In a heartfelt message, she thanked the team at The Royal Marsden Hospital, where she received treatment, and acknowledged the vital role they played in her recovery. “We couldn’t have asked for more,” she wrote. “The care and advice we have received throughout my time as a patient has been exceptional.”

As part of her ongoing work, Catherine has also taken on a new role as Joint Patron of The Royal Marsden. She expressed her commitment to supporting cancer research and improving the experience for other patients and their families. Her words carried a tone of optimism and resilience, noting she’s looking forward to “a fulfilling year ahead.”

Despite her absence at Ascot, Catherine’s public return at Trooping the Colour was seen as a meaningful step. Dressed elegantly and smiling alongside her family, she showed strength and positivity. Still, the decision to skip Royal Ascot underscores the importance of pacing her recovery.

Catherine’s health journey has been closely followed by the public, with widespread support and admiration for how she has handled the challenges. With Prince William by her side, she has repeatedly expressed gratitude for the outpouring of love and encouragement.

For now, it seems the Princess is prioritizing her well-being and family while easing back into her royal responsibilities. Her absence at Royal Ascot might have been a disappointment for fans, but it’s clear her focus remains on healing fully and gradually returning to the spotlight on her own terms.
