Colleen Hoover’s Verity Movie: Everything We Know So Far

In November 2024, Hoover took to Instagram to confirm the adaptation, writing, “Verity is coming to theaters, and I am so excited for this cast and the script. More details coming soon!”
What Is Verity About?
For those unfamiliar, Verity follows struggling writer Lowen Ashleigh, who is hired to complete the works of Verity Crawford, a famous author left incapacitated after an accident. However, upon moving into Verity’s home to review her notes, Lowen discovers a disturbing, unpublished manuscript filled with dark confessions. As she grows closer to Verity’s husband, Jeremy, she must determine what’s real and what’s a deadly lie.
Who Is in the Cast?
Anne Hathaway takes on the role of Verity Crawford in the highly anticipated adaptation, reuniting with director Michael Showalter after their work on The Idea of You.
Joining her in the cast, Josh Hartnett steps into the role of Jeremy Crawford, while Dakota Johnson portrays Lowen Ashleigh, the struggling writer at the heart of the story.
Filming for Verity kicked off in New York City in late February 2025, with Hartnett and Hathaway spotted on set, dressed in semi-formal attire, holding hands, and filming an intense scene.
A few days later, Johnson was seen shooting a dramatic sequence with Hartnett, her face and clothes streaked with fake blood, suggesting they were recreating a pivotal car accident from the novel.
Fans are eager to see how the film captures the book’s eerie tension, jaw-dropping twists, and morally gray characters. With Showalter at the helm, expectations are high for a psychological thriller that stays true to Hoover’s gripping storytelling.
