The fallout from Kanye West’s latest string of inflammatory comments continues to grow, with actor David Schwimmer now publicly condemning the rapper’s remarks and calling on X (formerly Twitter) owner Elon Musk to intervene.

Taking to Instagram, the Friends star made an impassioned plea to Musk, criticizing his decision to allow West to continue using the platform despite his repeated antisemitic statements. “We can’t stop a deranged bigot from spewing hate-filled, ignorant bile… but we CAN stop giving him a megaphone, Mr. Musk,” Schwimmer wrote.
Kanye’s Controversial Rants
West has been at the center of controversy once again, making headlines for statements that include open praise for Adolf Hitler, antisemitic conspiracy theories, and offensive remarks about multiple marginalized groups. His latest outbursts come in the wake of his wife Bianca Censori’s controversial Grammys appearance, further fueling the media frenzy surrounding the rapper.
Schwimmer Calls Out Platform’s Lack of Action
Schwimmer also pointed out that past comments of a similar nature led to West’s previous suspension from X in 2022. “Kanye West has 32.7 million followers on your platform, X. That’s twice as many people than the number of Jews in existence. His sick hate speech results in REAL LIFE violence against Jews,” he added.
While Schwimmer’s remarks have garnered widespread attention, he is not alone in condemning West’s actions. Several celebrities, including Meghan McCain and Piers Morgan, have criticized the rapper, but there has yet to be a large-scale movement demanding his removal from social media.
What’s Next?
Despite increasing backlash, Musk has yet to publicly address Schwimmer’s demand. In previous cases, Musk has defended “free speech absolutism,” even after reinstating previously banned figures with histories of hate speech. Whether X will take action against West remains uncertain, but the growing pressure from public figures may force a response.
As the controversy unfolds, many are questioning where the line should be drawn between free expression and platform responsibility. With West continuing to dominate headlines, the debate over content moderation and accountability on social media is far from over.
