After nearly a decade together, Melanie Hamrick has finally confirmed what many fans suspected: she’s been engaged to rock legend Sir Mick Jagger for years. But don’t expect wedding bells just yet.
In a recent interview with Paris Match, the 37-year-old ballerina and choreographer revealed that she and the 81-year-old Rolling Stones icon have been secretly engaged for “two or three years.” The revelation comes after years of speculation, with fans noticing a sparkling diamond on that finger, but never hearing an official announcement.
So why the silence?
“We are so happy in our current life that I would be too afraid to change anything,” Hamrick explained, adding that marriage isn’t necessarily off the table, but it’s not something they’re rushing into either.
The couple’s love story began in 2014, when they met while touring in Japan. While Melanie says there might have been a “spark” at the time, it wasn’t an instant whirlwind romance. “We didn’t even exchange numbers,” she noted. “At the time, I wasn’t in a relationship, but he was.”
Things clearly changed. The two now share a son, Deveraux Octavian Basil Jagger, born in 2016, and have quietly built a life together out of the spotlight. Hamrick has worn her engagement ring in public for years, even playfully calling it a “promise ring” during a 2023 interview with People. “Is it for that finger? Yes,” she laughed. “But I’m kind of like, a live-in-the-moment type of person.”
The couple’s low-key approach to commitment hasn’t diminished Hamrick’s devotion. “It’s me and him against the world,” she told Paris Match, adding that their bond is built on mutual support, happiness, and deep love. “No matter what, I’m riding with you [until] the wheels fall off.”
Her comments also reflect a broader philosophy about love and partnership. “The choice to love someone in all seasons is learning what is as close to how God loves us as possible. It’s unconditional.”
This isn’t Melanie Hamrick’s first high-profile relationship, nor is it Mick Jagger’s. The Rolling Stones frontman has had eight children with five different women and has been linked to numerous iconic women throughout his career. But with Hamrick, things seem different: private, personal, and fiercely grounded in the present.
Still, fans can’t help but wonder, will a wedding ever happen? The ring is there. The love is obvious. The timing? That’s entirely up to them.
