Finneas Gets Candid: “If I Died Tomorrow, I’d Regret Not Having Kids”

Finneas wants kids before he dies, and he’s not shy about it. The 27-year-old musician and producer, known for his killer songwriting skills and, of course, being Billie Eilish’s brother, got real in a recent interview. He said that if he only had six months left to live, his biggest regret wouldn’t be missed career goals, it’d be not getting the chance to become a dad.

He told the i newspaper, “If I only had six months to live, the only thing I’d be really sad about would be not getting to have kids. Everything else, I’d be like, “Man, I had such a lucky life’.” And he really has. With 10 Grammy Awards under his belt, chart-topping tracks, and a ridiculously successful sibling duo career, Finneas could easily rest on his accomplishments. But nope, starting a family is what matters most to him in the long run.

While Finneas and Billie are famously close, he admitted that doing normal sibling stuff is nearly impossible because of her fame. He’s tried planning low-key things, like late-night dog walks, but they usually have to run for it because Billie attracts way too much attention. “She’s just so famous, man,” he said. “We have to run away. It’s crazy.”

Their bond runs deep beyond just the music. Billie’s talked about how they can literally read each other’s minds. She once told British Vogue, “We look at each other in silence, and we both know we’re thinking the same exact thing.” That kind of unspoken connection clearly plays into the creative magic they bring into the studio.

Their journey started young, Finneas wrote “Ocean Eyes” back in 2015 and gave it to Billie because he thought she sang it better. That track was uploaded to SoundCloud, and the rest is pop history. Billie rocketed to stardom, and Finneas was right there with her, shaping the sound that would dominate playlists around the world.

Still, with all the accolades, Grammys, and global fame, the fact that Finneas wants kids before he dies shows he’s thinking beyond music. He’s dreaming about a different kind of legacy, one that goes deeper than streams and headlines.
