Godzilla x Kong Sequel Reveals New Title and Cast

Fans of the Monsterverse, get ready! The sequel to Godzilla x Kong has officially been titled Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, and it’s bringing a fresh batch of talent to the screen.

The movie, set for release on March 26, 2027, will feature an ensemble cast including Kaitlyn Dever, Dan Stevens, Jack O’Connell, Matthew Modine, Delroy Lindo, Alycia Debnam-Carey, and Sam Neill. These stars will join the iconic Titans as they face off against an all-new world-ending threat.

Directed by I Am Mother’s Grant Sputore, the film’s script has been penned by Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings writer David Callaham and Michael Lloyd Green. While plot details remain under wraps, we do know that the sequel will introduce new human characters, who will team up with Godzilla and Kong to battle a menace that could destroy both the Titans and humanity.

Godzilla x Kong Supernova

Following the success of Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, which saw the two legendary Titans join forces to take on a rising danger from Hollow Earth, the franchise is continuing to evolve. The film introduced a gripping new chapter in the Monsterverse, but now, things are escalating even further.

Interestingly, The New Empire director Adam Wingard won’t be returning for Supernova due to scheduling conflicts. However, the exit was amicable, and Wingard hinted at the possibility of returning to the Monsterverse in the future. In fact, Wingard had previously expressed his enthusiasm for exploring more of the story. “I do have more story to tell with these monsters, and I know where I’d go with it,” he told Discussing Film. Fans are definitely hoping he’ll get another chance to direct in this universe.

The Godzilla and Kong saga has been a major part of Legendary’s Monsterverse since the franchise launched in 2014 with Godzilla. The introduction of King Kong in 2017’s Kong: Skull Island was followed by Godzilla: King of the Monsters in 2019, and the epic showdown between the two Titans in Godzilla vs.

Kong in 2021. The universe has also expanded to television, with the animated Skull Island series on Netflix and Monarch: Legacy of Monsters on Apple TV+.

As we look forward to Supernova, fans can’t wait to see how the story continues to unfold with these beloved characters. It seems the Monsterverse is far from over!
