‘Happy Gilmore 2’ Trailer Drops: Adam Sandler Returns for One More Wild Ride

The wait is over: Adam Sandler’s Happy Gilmore is coming back with another round of golf, chaos, and obviously classic one-liners. Netflix has dropped the first official trailer for Happy Gilmore 2 to stream on July 25, 2025.

This highly anticipated sequel follows Happy years after his rise to golf stardom, struggling to find his swing once again. And if the trailer is anything to go by, it’s bringing back everything fans loved about the original, plus a few surprises.

What’s in the ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ Trailer?

The new footage begins with Sandler’s Happy dusting off his clubs for the first time in many years. “I haven’t swung a club in years,” he says. His return to the game, though, isn’t about golf; it’s about proving he’s still got what it takes.

Helping him along the way is his former love interest, Virginia Venit, played by Julie Bowen, who tells him, “We’re not done with golf. Let them see the Happy I fell in love with.”

But what is a Happy Gilmore movie without Shooter McGavin? Yes, Christopher McDonald returns as the longtime rival of Happy, ready to stir up trouble once again.

Oh, and Bad Bunny’s here, too. Why not? The Puerto Rican superstar takes on a new mysterious role in the film, and the trailer already hints at some hilarious interactions between him and Sandler’s character.

Who’s in the Cast?

Along with Sandler, Bowen, and McDonald, the star-studded lineup for Happy Gilmore 2 includes:

  • Ben Stiller (reprising his role as the sadistic nursing home orderly)
  • Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Bryson DeChambeau, and John Daly (yes, actual pro golfers)
  • Bad Bunny (because every sequel needs an unexpected wild card)
  • Travis Kelce-because why not throw an NFL superstar into the mix?
  • Sunny and Sadie Sandler (Sandler’s real-life daughters making an appearance)

The combination of returning favorites and new surprises is already fueling excitement among fans who have waited nearly 30 years for a follow-up.

Honoring the Legends

Sandler has further confirmed that the movie will pay tribute to the late Bob Barker, Carl Weathers, and Joe Flaherty-three legends who had unforgettable roles in the original. While it’s not known exactly how each of these will be included, Sandler has assured fans that their presence will be felt in the sequel.

Sandler first teased Happy Gilmore 2 back in 2024, revealing he and longtime collaborator Tim Herlihy were penning a script. The demand for a sequel had grown for years, but when Christopher McDonald (Shooter McGavin) accidentally let the cat out of the bag, fans knew it was only a matter of time.

“We don’t want to let anybody down,” Sandler said in an interview. “People have been asking for this for years, so we’re going to work hard and make sure it’s good.”

With the trailer out, anticipation has reached an all-time high. Does Happy still have the iconic slap-shot swing? Does Shooter finally get what’s coming to him? What is Bad Bunny’s role in all this?

We’ll find out when Happy Gilmore 2 hits Netflix on July 25. Until then, expect plenty more surprises as we get closer to release day. Keep watching for more updates on what could be the comedy sequel of the year.
