Justin Baldoni Calls Himself ‘Grateful’ as Blake Lively Legal Battle Continues

Justin Baldoni is keeping his spirits high as his legal battle with Blake Lively continues.

The It Ends With Us star and director, 41, was spotted at Los Angeles International Airport on September 29, where he briefly spoke with TMZ about how he’s holding up.

“I’m actually doing wonderful,” Baldoni shared, adding that he feels “very grateful,” “very positive,” and surrounded by “a lot of love.” When pressed about his calm approach to the case, the actor replied, “That’s what we always try to do,” signaling that he intends to take the high road.

His latest remarks come just two weeks after he expanded his legal team. On September 15, attorney Alexandra Shapiro – known for representing high-profile clients such as Sean “Diddy” Combs and FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried – officially joined Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios’ defense team, according to court documents obtained by Us Weekly.

The lawsuit between Baldoni and Lively began in December 2024, when the actress accused her It Ends With Us co-star and director of sexual harassment, creating a hostile work environment, and working with a crisis PR team to orchestrate a smear campaign. Baldoni has denied all allegations.

In response, he filed a countersuit against Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds, accusing the couple of extortion and defamation. However, that lawsuit was dismissed in June 2025. Lively’s original claims remain active, with a trial currently scheduled for May 2026.

Over the summer, Baldoni’s legal team emphasized that the dismissal of his countersuit does not weaken their defense. “The court decision on the motion to dismiss has no effect whatsoever on the truth that there was no harassment nor any smear campaign,” his lawyer said. “Discovery is proceeding and we are confident we will prevail against these factually baseless accusations.”

As part of that process, Lively was deposed by Baldoni’s attorneys in New York City in July, with Baldoni himself present. A spokesperson for the actress said her deposition went well, while noting that such testimony remains confidential until it can be presented in court under a judge’s supervision.

Earlier this month, the case gained a new development when another individual, whose name has been redacted in court filings, came forward with claims against Baldoni. The person accused him of verbal abuse and alleged that he was restricted from being on set for most of the production due to those incidents. This individual could potentially serve as a witness in the upcoming trial.

Despite the mounting legal tension, Baldoni remains focused on staying positive. For now, both he and Lively are preparing for what is expected to be a high-profile trial next spring.
